Renzetti Apprentice Fly Tying Vise

I have always had the cheepy vises before, this thing actually holds the hook.

So this vice is pretty good. It gets the job done. But it’s not exactly perfect. If you’re looking for a cheap vise and can’t possibly swing the traveler, this is fine, but I can’t possibly emphasize how worth it it is to upgrade to the traveler. I tie mostly salt water streamers and this is a little weak in the jaws, a little gritty in the rotation, and it’s not a true rotary.Again, it’s good. But you really should get the traveler.

Bought this for my brother, who ties his own flies. He loves the durability, and the ease of use. For the price, it is a tremendous value.

Great first vice

Great vise, period. Will tie any fly in wide range of hook sizes down to 26-28, if you can see that small. Will last many years. Travels well in small space, light weight. Have had mine for several years.
