(Even though it can be enjoyed as a stand-alone story, Please watch "Baki the Grappler" anime series first)I have been the biggest Baki series fan in the world, at the point of buying the whole series in Japanese just to keep up with the relentless action fighting that's presented by Itagaki Keisuke. Ever since the Anime series "Grappler Baki" (available in DVD by Funimation) ended. I waited 15 years for an official translation and finally, the wait is over.Is it worth it? Of course, it is. The second series is the best part of the "Baki series" and the art, action, and storylines are the best intro of the series. If you like top-notch martial arts action, you'll find a lot to love in the Baki series. I'm buying the series all over again. It is worth it!!an amazing series, really enjoyable for martial arts and fighting fans.

A fantastic way to start a manga, five deadly convicts looking for Baki(or anyone) to learn defeat is a brilliant concept that I hope others author use. The art is going to take some time getting used to, the anatomy of these guys are bonkers, Baki has tree trunks as legs, but you know what? It fits perfectly with this world just like all the other crazy stuff that happens, And that's the brilliance of this series. I would highly recommend this, it's a good starting point, and this arc has significant potential to be an exciting read.

'Baki Vol. 1' with story and art by Kisuke Itagaki is a manga about a seemingly amateur fighter and a group of killers heading his way.Baki shows up at school with bruises all over. Meanwhile, a series of death row convicts are making impossible prison breaks. They seem to all be unstoppable killers. All are heading to Tokyo and express the same reason: A taste of defeat.It definitely feels like a good preface for a massive series of fights. We get a small taste at the end of the manga. The art is fun and the violence is brutal and cartoonlike.I received a review copy of this manga from Akita Publishing Co., Ltd, and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This first vol is fun in every way I don't want to spoil any of the things that happened in vol 1 all I'm going to say is just read it because you won't regret it you may not like it but you definitely won’t regret it.

I love the concept of manga, but I was never the biggest fan of manga that were only focused on action and not story, but this manga is the exception. The art and choreography is fantastic as well as the passion you feel for martial arts as you read.

This is one of the most bizarre manga I’ve ever read. The art in this is subpar but I don’t mind that. The characters in this have some of the most insane and abnormal designs and I love it. The story isn’t great (so far) but it has potential. If you enjoy buff men fighting buff men than this is the perfect manga for you.

So over the top, filled with violence and nods to silence of the lambs. And an odd start to a series, but that's manga for you. Took a chance with this and was surprised by how much I liked it.

I always loved the anime I didn't know they had there was manga for this series. If you love action you gotta get into this.

This is a lovely piece of work to get the story going, escaped convicts with murderous intent, all headed to Japan to take on 17 year old champion Baki in an underground martial arts tournament.Intriguing, exciting and has me in suspense while heading off to buy volume 2.Give Baki a go, he won't disappoint.

Finally starting reading the Baki series. Loving it so far! quite a slow ish start and a short read for vol 1. Just meeting all the characters in this one. Very excited to read the rest though!
