kind of like the bumbling thieves in 101 Dalmations
I found the characters of the kidnappers to be a bit of a joke, kind of like the bumbling thieves in 101 Dalmations. The Author introduced a few different suspects throughout the book (that you never really got to know) just so you could wonder who the real villian was. But I didn't really care as none of them intrigued me at all. The "twin talk" the girls shared was mildly interesting but provided no amazing revelations to the story. All in all I found the whole thing kind of flat.

Two Little Girls in Blue
This story is a twist in a kidnapping of twins and their involvement in their psyche. There are many people who could be responsible but as usual the plot thickens until no one knows what really happened. With the return of one twin it makes the story so much more intriguing.

Been Ready Her Books For Over 20 Years
I love this Author she gets my attention and she keeps it. Funny story about why I ordered this book. I was actually reading this book and was almost to the halfway point when I misplaced it. I looked and looked for it and could not find it. I really needed to finish it and see what happened to the Two Little Girls in Blue, so I came on to Amazon and I ordered a used copy and I found one that was fulfilled by Amazon so I got the 2 day shipping. I was so glad to get that books so I could continue reading. I am sure you know how this ends, the same day the book was delivered and I started reading it the other book turned up, it had been right under my nose the whole time. lol I call that a pretty good Author If it makes you buy a book because you misplaced the other one.

She has such better novels!
I've realized lately, after reading (or listening on audio CD) to several Mary Higgins Clark novels, that she is a fine enough story-teller, but at times she returns to what is safe and doesn't take any chances. She uses the same plot twists and she always comes back to same types of delivery:Her characters reveal themselves inadvertently, but she neglects to realize that murderers, kidnappers, molesters etc. are not the most clear thinking individuals and they aren't capable of the insights she provides them with. It just isn't plausible. If these people were so incredibly understanding of their own motivations they wouldn't be committing these acts, and they always inevitably break down and confess all when cornered. Also , simply not plausible. It becomes somewhat annoying when your 3 books into this author and every single one of the "villains" offers up all (at only the mildest of coaxing from law enforcement) at the end, how convenient for her characters that they are saved at the last possible moment by an insightful killer who conveniently confesses not only their crimes, but their motives as well. She really likes to give you a murder suspect that is wrongly accused but looks oh so guilty. That's fine, but after five, six plots? Are we still in for this? I think she will be best read on occasion and not back to back marathons. This book you have a rag-tag group of morons who decide to kidnap twins in an effort to gain ransom. The plan is directed only by phone by someone known as the "piped piper", these morons haven't even ever met this piper yet they complete the kidnapping and make sure this mysterious voice gets seven million of the eight million they escape with. Are you serious? That in and of itself is ridiculous. And then there is the fact as I've pointed out that these people are complete morons, and they pull off a ransom/kidnapping? When was the last time one has been successfully completed in the United States? And the money is dropped, physically dropped and picked up and the FBI missing it because they are blocked in traffic? Are you serious? Suspension of disbelief is required for any fiction story, but this goes above and beyond, am I supposed to leave my reason and intellect at the door? And then you have the distraught mother of the twins directing these FBI agents through the investigation, because without her incredible insights and detective work, they certainly would have still been sitting in traffic, no?All in all, if she would fix these minor details it would sing. As it is now, it reads as if she wrote it too quickly, didn't check facts and added characters that were just convenient and not believable. What makes her successful is her ability to make her victims so sympathetic. I hang in there, just to see them through, although I know they will make it through fine every time and in the same fashion. She also loves to put songs into her books, a lot of her titles come from songs. I like that myself!

Book made poorly
Although the story was good, my book was constantly losing pages. I've never had a book have so many pages fall out. I feel like it was a defective book, but was not allowed to return it. Very disappointed because now no one else will be able to read it.

Quick, Suspenseful Read
I really enjoyed this novel. It was quite interesting and intriguing. I was even reading it at work, lol. Mary Higgins Clark does it yet again....I've read quite a few books by Mary, but this is my favorite thus far!

PRETTY GOOD READ.........
MHC may indeed be returning to her roots in this her most recent novel. Kathy and Kelly Frawley are identical twins and as close as sisters can be. Actually conjoined at birth (at the thumb), the girls often communicate in their own language (twin talk) and even seem to respond to each other telepathically. On one horrific night, both girls are kidnapped and their babysitter knocked unconscious. Soon after there is a ransom demand for 8 million dollars. Margaret and Steve Frawley--the young parents of the twins--cetainly do not have that type of money, and in fact have sunk the last bit of their cash into rehabbing their newly-purchased Ridgefield, Connecticut home. To the relief of all, Steve Frawleys firm offers to pay the ransom money. It appears as though the twins may actually return unharmed....but when the call is made to pick them up after the ransom has been retrieved, only one of the girls has been returned...left in a car with the body of one of the dead kidnappers, a suicide note indicates that he accidentally killed Kathy, the other twin. Soon after Kelly returns home it becomes clear that she is communicating with her "dead" twin....or could it be that Kathy is actually still alive? When it becomes apparent that this is in fact the case, the race is on to find Kathy before it is too late...and the kidnapper's fraudulent suicide note becomes eerily prophetic.Chock full of suspense, readers will find that MHC is almost at her best in this novel....almost.DYB

Different and engaging.
I started reading this book and it had me from the very start, I wanted to keep reading! I've never read any books by the author but it sounded good from the blurb and had decent reviews, it also has twins in it which is something that appealed to me as I have twins myself (although not identical as in the book).I felt that this book was very well written, it was complicated but easy to keep up with what was going on, it kept you guessing and trying to work out what was going to happen and who was behind it all, so many characters had secrets that you could never quite tell who was good and who was bad. The main complaint that I have with this book is that there are a lot of different characters, and many of them are men, I found it hard to remember the names of some of the smaller (but important) characters, and what their history was. This book is a great read, it engages the reader and takes us along on an emotional journey with hope, and fear, love and joy and a heartbreaking story of two little girls in blue and the love that they had for each other, and the love that their mother had for them.

Intrigued enough to stick with it to find out the identity of the 'pied piper'.
Found the writing style quite tedious - the tendency for each character to ploddingly 'voice' every thought as a device to fill in detail simply irritated me.

A little predictable but no less enjoyable
Excellent trail of clues which brought a satisfying conclusion. Enjoyable read but a familiar perhaps over used plot but with very real characters.

Not up to Ms Higgins Clark's usual standard!
This was a quick, easy read. But Mary Higgins Clark usually writes with much more depth than this; I guessed the outcome right from the start. True, the author told us early on 'who dunnit', but we were still supposed not to know how the story would end but there was no real cliff-hanger. Altogether, rather disappointing - I got the impression that this was somehow written to fulfil a publisher's quota, and that the author's heart really wasn't in it.

Two Little Girls in Blue by Mary Higgins Clark
Another really riveting audio story by Mary Higgins Clark. I have numerous audio CD's by this author and each and every one encompasses a really interesting story that has you guessing what the outcome is right to the end.
