Beautiful design but has significant shortcomings with the tray, especially as the child grows...
The pros:1) Relatively compact2) Looks really nice3) The wood is sturdy and well-balanced, allowing for a growing energetic toddler to remain in the seat without tipping off4) Easy to clean, the seat just comes off and you can wipe everything off.The cons:1) The tray is hard to take off and put on, even with two hands. This becomes a real issue as the child grows and pushes around the tray, because sometimes when you think the tray is safely in its place, it's actually still a little off. This can cause a big mess and can break the ends that keep the tray connected.2) The tray's connection to the chair is flimsy and the connection pieces are fragile. The right connection piece broke 3 times with regular use and we had to glue it back on. It now broke again and doesn't seem to hold well together even with glue.3) This is definitely for a thinner child. The piece that sits between the child's legs do not come off, which can be annoying for a growing child.Overall, I like this chair, but I wish the tray was built more strong and was easily removable. I probably would not recommend it to a friend because of this problem.

Disappointed...why did they make it so tall?
We have two girls, 2 1/2 and 15 months. We got the Svan Anka for our older daughter and have always loved it (especially when we lived in a condo). The espresso finish has chipped or rubbed away in a few places and the plastic tray cracked a bit, but it's a great chair. Now that we have it in booster mode it's even better. She can get in and out of it herself and she's very comfortable at our table. Like the Brentwood, the foot rest/step moves down as she gets taller. We tried to pass the Anka down to her little sister, but she wouldn't have it. I'm sure she'll use the Anka for several more years. I love that it folds flatter (like the Brentwood) so it won't be bulky to store when we put it away to save for the next generation. Neither one folds flat enough to store in a living space - the folding feature is best for long-term storage in a basement or storage area. We've been using a F-P booster on one of our regular kitchen chairs, but we want our chair back, so we decided to buy another Anka for our second daughter. We are disappointed that it has been discontinued, but we assumed the Brentwood would be very similar. The espresso finish on the wood seems to be more durable. The "wipeable" pad will be easier to keep clean than it's machine-wash predecessor, but it is not nearly as soft. Also, because the pad velcros to the wood, you can't use the seat without the pad (unless your child likes sitting on prickly velcro). The tray is a good shape, on the small size but big enough - this chair doesn't take up much room in your kitchen (as far as high chairs go), which I love. It has minimal plastic and blends in well enough with our kitchen furniture (although I don't love the white tray - I prefer the clear plastic of the Anka). The full harness doesn't come attached to the chair, so it is removable unlike the Anka's belt strap. After dinner last night our older daughter insisted on sitting in the new chair so she could color at the table (she usually sits in the Anka while coloring). It was then I realized that the seat of this chair is too high. Her thighs were pinched between the bottom of our table and the seat of the chair. It's a few inches higher than the Anka and as a result doesn't work with our table. Our table seems very average...why did they make this chair taller? It's not tall enough to use with a pub-height table. If you're looking for a high chair, this is a good one. Probably even great. If you're looking for booster chair, be vary careful before making your purchase. I never thought to research the height of the seat (because I was buying the brand we already have).I'm going to try to return the Brentwood and cross my fingers than I can find another Anka somewhere. Great concept, but the Brentwood is not a great execution.

Almost perfect for a parent who always has a baby on one arm!
Per reviews, this chair is small, and for us, that it is perfect!! We don't have a lot of extra space and we didn't buy it with the expectation that it would fit our child forever. It folds to further decrease its footprint and we put it in a closet after each use. It doesn't fold very compact, which was disappointing, but on the plus side, it is still self standing when folded (LOVE this). Plus, you can collapse it with one hand and a foot! It is light and there is a convenient handle on the back of the chair. This allows you to move it around with one hand while carrying baby in the other! The wood is of good quality. We unfortunately already put a gouge in it but the wood underneath is dark so it hardly shows. The seat is an easy to clean foam. It has a little lip that conforms snugly to the chair and catches food, preventing grime from building up in the corners in the seat. The tray is easy to clean and can be easily removed with one hand... BUT the plastic guard that goes in front of baby below the tray is a pain. This part must also be removed to but baby in and out and requires two hands. You have to push the buttons on either side very deeply to release the guard. It's impossible if you have any fingernails at all, or if you have big man fingers... Meaning neither mom nor dad can easily accomplish this without frustration and/or broken fingernails! It would be 5 stars except for this.Overall, very happy with this attractive piece.

Where has this highchair been?
I absolutely love this chair! I have read so many comparisons and reviews of wooden high chairs, and this one was never reviewed? The other Svan high chair was (the Signet) reviewed a lot, along with the Stokke Tripp Trapp chair and the Keekaroo, but I never saw this one reviewed. It also had hardly any reviews on Amazon, so I was hesitant. (It is starting to dawn on me that perhaps this is a relatively new product?)Assembly went great, I had it up in 15-20 minutes by myself. The instructions were sufficient and everything went together well. It fits my child so much better than his previous seat. We did have a Eddie Bauer Wooden high chair, and it was huge and had lots of nooks and crannies to clean out. My little son was swimming in it (he's on the smaller side of small!). He fits so well in this chair, he can reach everything on the tray, it's so nice.I gave it only 4 starts though because the footrest had a pretty big dent in it when I opened it. It's a foot rest, so I decided we will just use it anyway. Also, I'm not a fan of the velcro to hold on the back We currently are just using the bottom cushion. All in all though, it's a great chair. I absolutely love it and would recommend it highly for anyone looking for a wooden high chair that will go up to the table.
