Rain Bird TM2-6 Station Indoor/Outdoor Controller

We ordered this controller as well as the LNK2 Smart Wi-fi Module 2nd generation in order to replace our older Rain Bird panel and to finally have Wi-fi access while out of town. I did a lot of research with the help of AI and was pretty confident that my husband could install this with little to no problem as he is pretty handy and recently installed security cameras as well as a Wi-fi thermostat with no problem. Prior to installing this panel I questioned AI about the initial set up and my husband watched a simple YouTube video. When it came time to set it up we were ready to go and easily disassembled our old panel and installed the new one. It took about 20 minutes to do everything, including the addition of the Wi-fi module which was a piece of cake as there is a place clearly marked where you insert it into the panel. The app was easy to install and for the most part I was able to get everything synced up in no time. I then played around with it for a bit and figured it out. This was so much easier to install than expected and we wound up saving ourselves over $200 in installation costs as we had gotten estimates from a couple of local sprinkler companies.

Performed perfectly

Couple quirks if replacing an older Wi-Fi unit with a newer one. Make sure you delete the old controller in the app then clear cache and data as well from the app. Even if the LNK device is blinking ready for set up red/green, push the button once. Wait a bit and then push again. It appears to want to connect after that first push and the 2nd seems to clear the LNK of previous info. Then proceed with setup normally.Good time and the app makes it easy to create schedules and adjust notifications. I had to create an IOT network on 2.4ghz to get a reliable connection. Just remember to make it so your phone connects to that IOT network automatically to facilitate the transfer of data to the LNK module.

The product was exactly as described. The information on the sellers website was extremely helpful. There was also a note by the seller in the package with his email address in case there was any problems. Highly recommend.

Perfect replacement for my 30 YO Rainbird controller ESP-6SI. Take a photo of your current wiring before you begin. No battery back up needed, internal storage of program. EZ connection - No bulky low voltage converter - connected to common grounded exterior 3 prong male plug / socket. I need and longer run and replaced the provided plug with a 20' extension. EZ install and programming. Compact, functional controls.

I have had this controller for three years, just past the warranty period. For some reason it suddenly was not connecting with the Rainbird App. The usual cure is to delete and reinstall the controller in the app, not too hard. This time with my new Xfinity Gateway router it refused to cooperate. It would tell me my WIFI password was wrong repeatedly. This controller only works on the 2.4 gHz band. Newer controllers don’t have two bands to choose from, they do it automatically. I spent hours on three calls to Support. The first two failed and just wanted to call it my problem.. I bought another LNK module thinking that must have failed. The third guy said I needed to call Xfinity and find out how to turn off the 5 gHz band of my router. That’s really not too easy. Rainbird need to update their hardware to work with new routers.

This unit is simple to use for anyone with little knowledge on controllers. The cheaper ones are not easy to program like these.
