For years I carried on a losing battle with squirrels- which abound in my area. No longer are they a problem!The birds love this product-- attracting blue birds (from late fall to early spring), gold finches, house finches, sparrows, cardinals, juncos, red bellied woodpeckers, downy woodpeckers, blue jays, and mourning doves.

It’s a little pricey, but it’s worth it. I love to feed the birds, but the damn squirrels just get in their feeders and eat all the sunflower seeds. Finally I purchased these seeds that are coded with jalapeño sauce. The squirrels definitely stopped jumping up. They don’t even look at the feeders anymore.

The birds love this food and most other critters don't. Except for ground squirrels.

I love feeding the birds. I don't want to feed the squirrels. Hot meats are perfect for the birds and the squirrels won't touch it.

This sunflower meat extruded bird feed with added capsaicins is not cheap by any means but it definitively solved my problem - that using a typical seed mix I was primarily feeding the local squirrels and not my local bird life. The squirrels stopped using the bird feeder the moment I started using Coles Hot Meats and I now fill the feeders about once a week instead of every two days and the feeders themselves are no longer being damaged by rodent teeth. Net net I also guess that my dollar cost per week is about the same as it was before.

The birds love this seed, the squirrels do not. Some squirrels will eat this seed but after a very short while, they jump off. rub themselves on the ground and run for water. I love Coles hot meats.
