Microsoft Surface Type Cover 2 (Black)

Nice Backlighting and good quality keys. Tactile feedback is a bit lacking but for how slim and small the construction is, overall this is a great product. This keyboard was for my mother but I don't hate the purple and if you can live with the color there is a considerable price break on it compared to the more standard color options. MY RATING SYSTEM: I try to stick with the same criteria and system when reviewing products and here is how it breaks down… FIVE STARS: Great Product, would feel completely confident in recommending to others and consider the product to be a great overall value with no obvious faults. FOUR STARS: Still a very good product, I consider it to be overall a good satisfying purchase and can still recommend it in good faith but there is one small aspect about the product keeping it from a perfect score. THREE STARS: A good product but not a great one, it operates and appears as advertised but more than one aspect of the item is undesirable. This is an item I would use but probably consider an alternative option. TWO STARS: Product is definitely lacking in quality and or the way it operates. Would not recommend it to others and would seek and alternative elsewhere. It maybe just barely does what it is advertised to do but is probably not worth the money and there are many negative factors about it. ONE STAR: No two ways about it, this is a bad product and I would not recommend anybody purchase it.

Pros: * Better "feedback" with actual keys compared to the touch cover. * Easy to clean Cons: * Not like using a full sized keyboard, but then it wouldn't be mobile if it was full sized. * Bluetooth not built into it (separate purchase of the "bar" to use Bluetooth) At first my new Surface Pro 2 did not recognize the Type cover, but after reading on-line I saw it needed me to make sure system updates had been applied. Once I had done that it worked like a charm. It takes getting used to the spacing of the keys (I have long fingers and a fairly big hand), but I found placing my fingers on the home keys (like you learned in typing class or data processing class for those younger then me), it works great with touch typing, though you have to get used to the key placement being "shorter". You can easily wipe the felt like surface of stray dust etc.., though the keys show the oils from your fingers pretty easy, you can easily clean them off too. For the price they should have built in Bluetooth vs. a separate $80 purchase), there are plenty of 3rd party ones out there for as little as $30 that are even smaller (keyboard with bluetooth), but none that also act as a cover for the Surface. There is plenty of room for the electronics needed, I think it's more a typical M$ move to milk you for more money if you ask me, but then so does Apple and all the other tech vendors, why include it when you can get another $80 or more out of your customers. All and all for a portable keyboard that also covers my surface when not in use, I'm very happy with this product and would highly recommend it over the touch cover to any Surface user, or for that matter any 3rd party bluetooth keyboard.

I have Surface RT with Touch Cover and while it is OK, I can't type on it for a long time. And 5 years ago, Type Cover was expensive, so I passed it. But last week, I accidentally came across Type Cover 2 (backlit keyboard) in Amazon and the price was cheap ($36 for a purple one) so I jumped on it. And I like it a lot. Much much better than the Touch Cover: 1. FUNCTION: It feels better to type and with backlit (adjustable) keyboard you can type in the dark. All the keys and functions work fine (if it doesn't work after initial connection with the Surface, then restart the Surface while the keyboard is attached). 2. QUALITY: The plastic keys and the fabric cover are very nice to touch and they are strong. 3. PRICE: For $36.00, this is very good choice for your Surface RT. A comparable Bluetooth keyboard (with backlit) does not have the thinness, tactile feel, convenience [that connects to RT directly] or touch pad. I give 4 stars, because touch pad is just average. It works, but not always responsive as you would like. So you might want to use a mouse of your choice (either Bluetooth or USB optical mouse). So if you type a lot on your Surface RT, then this Type Cover is perfect for you. Recommended!

The keyboard feels like a real laptop, connects instantly with the magnetic attachment, and the backlight is super useful at night .The trackpad is small but works fine. Overall, it makes the Surface way more functional, highly recommend.

je l'ai acheté pour ma surface RT et j'en suis super contente. elle s'est tout de suite adapté au format AZERTY pas eu besoin de réinitialiser la tablette. je recommande tout à fait ce produit!

これまで、へこまないキーボードでした。入力した感じはしないし、入力間違いはするしで、ストレスがたまりました。このキーボードにして「普通」に入力できるので、気持ちいいです。

received product with one key out of the place. not sure whtr is it original microsoft product. keyboard layout shown in display is english and the one which is delivered is in French !

Bello il colore proprio come in foto, il materiale è morbido ma la struttura è resistente. Lo uso per il tablet e fa anche da cover.

Aunque tiene un poco de truco la configuración pero una vez configurado, funciona perfectamente y cómodamente con la SURFACE RT
