The Alabama Pecan Company Southern Pecan Pie

I ordered this for Christmas for my sister & brother in law who used to live in Mississippi- now in Colorado.They miss the pecan pies they used to enjoy. The delivery was on time, and they absolutely loved it!

It's a pie--a pecan pie to be precise. I used it for its intended purpose: I ate it. Would not have believed that anybody could ship a pie by mail. But decided to chance it. I am pleased to say that it was wonderful. Very rich, so I only ate small slices at a time. But if you are in doubt about ordering a pie by mail? This one is worth it.

Yes, we buy pecan pie for the pecans, and most people prefer a generous proportion of pecans to filling, but...This pie was all pecans. There seemed to be only enough filling to hold the pecans in the crust. I like some filling with my pecans. The middle rode a little low in the crust, so, I think if they put enough filling in to raise the middle up to the top of the crust, i.e., same amount of pecans put more of the liquid filling, these would be the perfect pies.Well, except the pie was just covered in a shrink wrapped clingfilm sort of thing, banging around in a too-big box. It was a bit the worse for wear when I opened the package. With just a little more effort and care, this pie could have been five stars all the way.

This order was not a good experience because 1/2 of the pie filling was cooked below the crust and this method of cooking pie made the entire crust a gummy mess and and it was like chewing bubble gum instead of enjoying a fresh pecan pie. I would say to me that the pecans used as the topping were utterly tasteless and this was overall waste of money full stop.

My uncle, 1,000 miles away, loves the pecan pies I have made for our annual family gathering. Obviously, this event did not happen in 2020. No way to expect 50-60 relatives to show up from 5 different states during this major health crisis. His age and my age alone decimated any thoughts of even trying to gather. So after much searching for artisan bakers near him (the best option has been closed during COVID), I found the Alabama Pecan Co. to ship one right to his door. The pie, so Uncle Bob attests, is delicious. It arrived frozen but completely intact and he gladly shared it with his sons, my cousins, on Christmas Eve. As the relative "farthest afield", I was happy that this little proxy for myself and this piece of our best family memories could be shared.

The pie was ordered and received in two days and very difficult circumstances weatherwise. In spite of the weather, hot hot hot, the pie arrived safe and sound and immediately edible
