A great value for some fine albums
This compendium of Nat Cole albums over the '50s and early '60s is a great value. There's some great stuff here: the early albums when he crossed over from being a jazz pianist and vocalist to popular music are classics; his later album with George Shearing is a classic match of two great talents. But there's also some substandard Cole: his gospel album sounds like he phoned it in; his country & western has a few good tracks but mostly it was not his métier. I knew Cole had recorded some Latin American music in Spanish, but I'd forgotten just how much. These Latin-music albums are a charming feature of this collection -- much of the back-up, especially on tracks with mariachi musicians, is tasty. 22 albums for this rock-bottom price: how can you go wrong?!

Unique Set for a Unique performer
This 10 CD import is very enjoyable. As promised it does have 22 albums by Nate Cole recorded for Capitol between 1950 -1961 ....but it leaves some great albums out during that time period .....his classic Christmas album is not in this compilation and neither is the Round Midnight album with classic jazz soloists and the rare Lush Life set with Nelson Riddle . But for the money you can't beat this wondrous package ...of course the big draw back with all of these cheap imports are the lack of liner notes but that's a nit . The sound reproduction is top flight ; you can hear the Capitol technology on these discs. Capitol Records always was ahead of the curve with their hi-fi 50's recordings. Grab this set before it goes away.

Budget release. You get what you pay for and it might not even be a legal product.
One of the tracks on one of the desks has a glitch. Obviously there’s no quality control on this product. They are just repackaging copyrighted material that they do not own for a cheap price. I don’t even know how this is legal to sell. The packaging isn’t great either. It’s really low budget stuff. If you want 22 albums on the cheap and don’t care about the one track that glitches out, it’s not a horrible purchase. But then there’s thatProblem that you might be contributing to copyright theft. I don’t know why there’s so much fake stuff on Amazon. It’s really disheartening.

Great music!
I have always had a love for Nat King Cole's music. I grew up hearing it all over the place but I never got into it, until now. I thought that twenty two albums for a tenner seemed like a great way to truly dive into the man's discography and I appear to have been right. If you've bought any of these box-sets before, you know exactly what you're getting. Those that don't will be happy to know that you're getting a reasonably sturdy clamshell CD case with cardboard slips and ten CDs. Each disc has two albums on them, three for the shorter EP's. This adds up to the twenty two mentioned above. The albums include the likes of Love Is the Thing, The Piano Style of Nat King Cole, Just One of Those Things, St Louis Blues and To Whom It May concern, and many more. There's more than enough details on the back of the CD sleeves, but not enough for the more picky individuals. The sound quality for this box-set is consistently good. Most of the albums are very clear, have good volume and a nice amount of bass. Some of the earlier releases have been sourced from vinyl, making them sound a little coarse with surface noise, a few pops and clicks here and there. I don't know if there's better sources out there, but for what you get in this box-set, you really can't go wrong with the quality.I have really loved listening to Nat King Cole since buying this set. The man has an amazing voice, great skills in his hands and a fantastic selection of musicians playing alongside him. The voice is buttery smooth, oozes talent and charm and is just something you don't hear in 2021. It's pretty timeless stuff and most definitely worth buying for anyone into this period jazz, or just wants to hear real musicians play some real classic tunes.

Great set of recordings......only let down by programming
I'm very happy with this box set EXCEPT whoever programmed the data, specifically the titles of the songs, must have totally lost the plot or something. None of the titles match any of the recorded ones. Why is that a problem you say...... well, I backup all of my records and CDs encase anything happens (fire, theft or whatever...) and I utilise a Plenue when I'm away from my HiFi. So when you select a 'cut' to listen to, you want to hear THAT cut/song. This is an issue that one comes across more often as time goes on.... but this set, sets a new record....I would have given it a much lower rating if it were not for Nat 'King' Cole.
