Personal Smoke Filter by Sploofy

This is now my 6th Sploofy replacement cartridge since changing from the Smoke Buddy. My roommate and I share 1 Sploofy and it has done its job. It is well worth spending the money on a 3 pack instead of a single filter. The estimated 300-400 uses is generous; it varies on frequency and how many exhales you do at a time. We have noticed they last about 3-4 weeks with daily use. The trick is to form a good seal with the mouthpiece and to fully exhale, or you will have some smoke escape. The round mouthpiece is much more efficient and comfortable than the rectangular one of the Smoke Buddy. (And much less wasteful over time, as the SB is about $20-30 each at local smoke shops and can’t be cleaned or reused) My car and our apartment don’t smell and the discarded filters show how much resin is trapped. Overall I am pleased with the Sploofy compared to the Eco420 and Smoke Buddy which do not seem to have the same quality or last as long. We have tried using dryer sheets, cheesecloth, and coffee filters to try to extend the life of the inner filter but they block the smoke and cause it to leak when used. Every week we take it apart and clean the plastic case to remove resin buildup and reduce lingering odors. We have experienced 2 bad filters right out of the box. Smoke was leaking profusely and the odor was very strong. Amazon was able to replace them and all I needed to do was drop them off at Kohl’s to handle the return and shipping. This was on two separate incidents several months apart, so I am glad that Amazon can quickly resolve the issue. Update Feb 2020: We have received 2 faulty, leaky filters out of the box back to back. At this point we are keeping the less “stinky” of the two to use as we research a competitor’s brand. Unfortunately this is happening too often, not sure what is going on but the quality and odor proofing is not the same. We have had friends comment that they detect an odor for the first time since we started using the Sploofy, so it may be time for a change.

I have plenty practice and use with personal air/smoke filters. Ever since I came across the smoke buddy a couple years ago, I have been using one at ALL times. About 9 months ago, I was about to order new Smoke Buddys after I had went through 2 original's in less than a couple of weeks & so I was looking around for an alternative when my friend stumbled across the sploofy. I proceeded to try out the sploofy v2 and fell in love. It had a replaceable filter, it had WAY better airflow when brand new (compared to the Smoke buddy) and lasted considerably longer. Since then, I have exclusively used sploofy's and was stoked when I came across the release of the sploofy v3 as it's wider, has absolutely outstanding airflow and lasts RIDICULOUSLY long!!! If you want a personal smoke/air filter, do not even THINK of buying anything besides the Sploofy v3. It's cheaper, has a replaceable filter (which makes it EVEN cheaper), has the best airflow (as far as breathing through it goes) & it lasts longer than all the others. p.s. if you want to extend the life, after using each time, take a paper towel and put it inside the mouth piece up against the filter to dry out any moisture (moisture is what causes ALL charcoal/carbon filters to get clogged and lose its airflow throughput) Hope you find my review helpful and feel free to ask any questions!

First off I just want to say that, I've had this thing over a month now and I love it! I live in New England, USA, so the winters get cold. I'm not supposed to smoke inside where I live, but with the use of my vape and sploofy, I never have to go outside to smoke again. Completely absorbs vapor\smoke, and produces absolutely no smell. And MOST IMPORTANTLY, there is no resistance when blowing threw it. When trying other products that are supposed to do the same thing, it feels like blowing threw a clogged pipe when they're brand new. It's not a good experience having to blow so hard that you feel light headed everytime you want to take a hit. A month and a half of using Sploofy multiple times daily though, and only now am I needing my first filter replacement because it was started to get harder to blow threw. I just received the 3 pack yesterday and they all are the just as great quality and the same as the original. And on top of how good the product itself is, the shipping was free but on both deliveries, they arrived 2-5 days earlier than the expected delivery date. When I herd these things existed, I did a lot of research on 4 of the main brands, and i wouldnt suggest any of them for various reason, except sploofy. For what it is, sploofy is as perfect as you could ask for. Since my first filter lasted a month and a half, I expect this 3 pack to last me 4-5 months. But when I do finally run out, I definitely will be buying more.

***edit- I’ve bumped my review up to 4 stars as it’s now more than a year later and the spoofy v2 is still going strong! Granted I do have several other spoofs (smoke eraser and smoke buddy) that I rotate out and for a good deal of the last year I used them a lot more than I used this one, but in recent months the sploofy has been getting a lot more use and I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how well it continues to perform. Its design is such that the sponge manages to catch a lot of the moisture, thus protecting the filter, and with my jimmy-rigged mouthpiece this thing is almost perfect. I do wish the rounded top was flat so it could stand up without wobbling when I set it down on that end though (who wants to set their sploof down on the mouthpiece end?), but I believe this issue has been addressed in the most recent iteration, plus you can always do what I do and just pop off that plastic dome when you want to be able to set it down flatly. Now if only the makers of the sploofy would retool the mouthpiece to more closely mimic that of the Smoke Eraser, and this would be a 5 star sploof! ——————————————————————— Original review: The actual filtering of this device is great (so far anyway, after only a little light usage, so we’ll see as far as longevity goes).. very little resistance when exhaling. However, the biggest and I’d say most important issue is the mouthpiece, which seems to have been “designed”/constructed as an afterthought. There is no silicone padding or anything other than a large, hard plastic opening for you to stick your mouth into (?) I guess, as trying to place your lips around it only causes smoke to leak/be forced out the sides of your mouth and thus never even make it to the filter. A little more attention paid to the user experience/r&d might have made this a 5 star device, but unfortunately the actual real world user experience seems to have been almost entirely ignored. What good is a well-constructed filter if you can’t get the smoke into it in the first place??? After much experimenting and souring the internet for some sort of aftermarket/third party solution (a simple silicone mouthpiece attachment that can be fitted snugly into/over the opening would seriously do wonders... anyone with a 3D printer out there looking to make a few bucks?), the best I was able to come up with was cutting off the top of a water bottle aahout 1/2-1 inch below the edge of the mouth piece and then forcing that into the opening of the Sploofy and sealing the joint with duct tape. The water bottle I used was a bit difficult to cram in there but a small Fiji bottle would probably work even better. It’s not the best or most elegant solution but it should hold up until I’m able to find a better filter device.

I absolutely love the Sploofy because it allows me to be anywhere and partake on my herb or concentrate of choice. I no longer have to be worrying about wether or not someone can smell it or wether the smell lingers on my clothes. I also love that it is super discreet and very long lasting per filter, about 3 months. When I was initially shopping for a personal smoke filter, I found myself debating between two, one of which was the Sploofy. I am glad I purchased the Sploofy because I was blown out of the water. My mind was totally blown. I couldn’t believe that something like this existed after years and years of being a homemade sploof user. Before using the Sploofy, I used to do the most to try to be discreet. Either by using incense and over-spraying perfume on myself to “trying” to blow the smoke away from me and of course, the homemade sploof. All of which helped a bit but not to the level that the Sploofy has helped. Over the years, I have come to trust the Sploofy brand and they have never let me down. I know they will deliver a stellar product every time. So if you’re looking for a personal smoke filter then look no further because you will definitely find it worthwhile. A few tips: during sessions, place on table upside down for it to last you longer. While not in use, take mouthpiece off and place it upside down on the wider side of the mouthpiece. This will allow airflow which helps a ton with longevity.

I recommend this to everyone and anyone who vaporizes or smokes anything and has a need or desire to be more respectful or incognito about the odor. Here's why: I have been using disposable carbon filters for years, the colorful plastic ones i'll spare the specific name of. The main point is; they're built to throw away in a very wasteful way. If you're a frequent user of carbon filters, make the switch over to something like this. It's gonna save you money in the long run and way less time ordering replacements, seeing as the replaceable filters come in packs of 2 or 3. I really want to say i appreciate the simple, recyclable packaging. No stickers, tape, plastic. Thank you for keeping it simple. That's great. For those who haven't used a personal air filter; they work to an extent. Any smoke blown through WILL be effectively masked. However, any smoke that may not go directly through the filter would be quite noticeable. It is best used in scenarios where the people around you are aware and tolerant of your smoking, yet maybe you'd like to keep odor and smoke clouds to a minimum.

The design is beautiful, the packaging was designed with care, it LOOKS like a great product. But, the mouth piece is pretty much useless. The shape let's a lot of smoke escape out of the sides of your mouth, no matter how you place your mouth on it. I was really excited about the replaceable filters after being a die-hard Smokebuddy user, but it's just not worth it. It does the task of filtering the smoke just as well as the Smokebuddy, but with so much of the smoke not even going into the filter, it's subpar to say the least. Buy a Smokebuddy instead, they're cheaper, have more options, and work much better. They also come with covers for the mouthpiece, which the Sploofy does not, and with the mouthpiece of the Sploofy being the part you set on less-than-sanitary surfaces it would be a good idea to include one. Solid attempt, just need to work on the follow-through.

The sploofy worked perfectly for me, significantly cuts smell from smoking and makes vapor not smell at all! I’ve been using it heavily for about a month and I’ll probably get another week or two out of it before having to replace the filter cartridge (I LOVE that they’re replaceable btw). The filter itself is heavy duty and well made, I've not noticed any smoke escaping without being filtered. The inside of the filter does give off a slight smell from use from the side you blow into but it’s not noticeable unless you’re holding it up to your face, it holds in the smell very well. The body of the Sploofy that holds the filter stays pretty clean, it should only need a quick wipe down on the inside with a cloth when I replace the filter. I would definitely recommend this product to those trying to smoke discreetly, however it’s not the kind of thing you could use walking down the street without being noticed as the body of the filter is fairly large (about softball sized, it would definitely be noticeable if you tried to put it in your pocket).

The Sploofy V3 is absolutely amazing and a must buy! The V3 has improved massively over the V2 (which was great anyway) and now allows you to keep the same external plastic shell, replacing only the inner filter, meaning less waste but it still provides the same fantastic filtering! If you have the Spoofly V2 and are considering upgrading, I would highly recommend it, just keep in mind it is ever so slightly larger to accommodate for the replaceable filters, but you will save money in the long run. Unlike some of the competitors, the Sploofy has little to no resistance when blowing air through it which makes it a pleasure to use and it truly does filter out any unwanted smells.

Recently, at 60 years old, I was feeling so disappointed in what has happened to the quality and craftsmanship of sooo many (too many) products. So many things purchased with a sigh. Man oh man. Then I purchase this product and I feel like singing. It is so clear to me that whomever made this product loves it and has pride and integrity around it. It is so nicely built - simple and strong - comfortable for the mouth - works exactly as promised - is excellently priced - and they even give the (important) tip of letting moisture evaporate so as to enable longer last to the filter - which already has approx 300 uses. Thank you Sploofy makers! Interesting to me that another product that is supremely made also relates to the the cannabis industry and that is Ariser!! Their products also carry pride and integrity with them. Very very pleased with this product!! Faith in humanity being restored!!!

If you're wondering should I try this over a smoke buddy I'd give it a shot Long time smoke buddy user here and I recently switched to this product sploofy The mouth piece is a different fit but definitely works, I feel like this has more room for the smoke so it's not a difficult to push the smoke through (exhale) So far only a few days use but I can tell its just as good if not better The main reasoning for switching was this has replaceable inside which is a huge plus for me
