Good atuff
Very clean feeling and fragrance free gel that provides a moderate hold. A wet look is left after drying that can be brushed out if you prefer while mostly retaining the style.

Elite, Non-Clumping Hold; No Breakouts
After living my full life with skin-lacerating rashes -- often in diabolical places -- a dermatologist cultured a rash and diagnosed me with "contact dermatitis" brought on by "fragrance" or "parfum" found in personal care products. I was told to change everything I used in grooming, with Vanicream products as my anchor. I now use the cleansing bar, shampoo, conditioner, antiperspirant -- nearly everything.Their clear hair gel is elite in every way; it just has no odor or color. A penny-sized amount rubbed between my hands provides front-to-back coverage and a terrific hold with zero clumping. Its contribution to my war against dermatitis has been life-affirming: I'm rash-free, off steroid creams, and looking the best I can.For those with contact dermatitis, eczema, or psoriasis, eliminating fragrances may prove transformative. I wish you the best! - (Was this review of use to you? If so, let me know by clicking "Helpful." Cheers!)

Excellent if you are fragrance-sensitive, but...
Not the best choice for African-American natural hair maintenance. I recently began transitioning my hair to natural styling and associated maintenance. I selected specialty shampoo, conditioning and styling products that focus on natural hair maintenance and grooming. Fast-forward: I learned that I'm allergic to certain hair product ingredients and I should use fragrance-free, allergen-free products. My dermatologist recommended Vanicream line of products. Use of their shampoo and conditioners works well though not as much moisturizing as my original products for natural hair. I later began using the Vanicream styling gel. This item does not leave my hair as soft and moisturized as my original styling products. The Vanicream line of products are excellent if you are professionally advised to use only fragrance-free, allergen-free hair products.

Hair gel
Great product!! Due to allergy and skin problems, I now have to use a lot of this line. This styling gel is perfect after the shampoo and conditioner, and I can just finger comb my hair with water to reactivate it for days! Totally recommend!

Vanicream Hair Styling Gel
Strong hold, no residue or flaking, keeps hair feeling natural, easy to clean after using, and effective at holding hair in place. No allergy or trash issues using. Best hair gel I've used. Been using for over 10+ years.

Helps tame frizzy dry hair without any scent
I had to start using unscented products due to severe scalp itching, scaling, and bleeding. My dermatologist said it was my nice smelling 'essential oil' Aveda hair products. Vanicare gel doesn't look to hot...it is sort of like clear Vasoline, but it fortunately doesn't make my hair all flat and oily like I was afraid it would. It coats my hair and I use another product that is unscented that is curl enhancing and controlling with this and it makes my hair look very good. I notice for some reason that using these products my coarse, curly hair gets really 'big' like it turns into an expanded version of my regular hair. It is so much hair as I wear it long below my shoulders so it is a big overwhelming! Ha ha! In any case, my hair like my scalp is on the drier side and I am so happy this ISN'T sticky or heavy or making my hair flat and limp like I was afraid it would. It does a great job and doesn't leave a residue even though it looks unappealing and a little gross when I am squeezing it out of the container as it is this clear jel that looks thick and that it would be very sticky. It is a very good product. I am a new user of unscented products and was sad to have to stop using Aveda essential oil products but they were really exacerbating my scalp issues and this doesn't. Don't put this ON your scalp though if you have sensitive skin...spread it first throughout your palms and start with the bottom of your hair and work your way up and stop about 1/2 to 1 inch from your scalp. i still have 'wild' hair' close to my scalp but I carefully apply just a little one hair at a time for those 'out of control' small bits of new hair that spring up near my scalp to 'tame' them (for a while at least!)
