Works great and packs well
I love that this is lightweight and folds up -- I don't carry a large camera bag so I didn't want a lot of extra equipment that would necessitate me getting a larger bag or carrying a second one. I have a Canon 70D and this works great with my external flash when I want a softer effect. Such a simple device -- you don't need to get anything more expensive. This was recommended to me my a professional photographer and I'm so glad that I got one. It's especially nice when doing portraits because it softens the effects of the flash. Because it has velcro, it's adjustable will attach to many different flashes. It didn't loosen or fall off while I was using it, and I was using my camera freehand do I was moving around quite a bit.For the size and price, you really can't go wrong.

Another Great Neewer Product
I am an amateur photographer and bought this softbox before shooting my first indoor wedding reception. I had previously purchased one of Neewer's speedlights, as well as the company's wireless remote, so I hoped this diffuser would be as great as those products have been for me. It definitely has been! Assembly was simple, the photo results were great, and the price was right. This is a good quality diffuser that easily attaches to an external flash via a Velcro strip (one side is Velcro, the other is a resistant plastic material that sticks to the plastic of the speedlight). On two sides of the diffuser, there are Velcro removable flaps that open up to allow for additional lighting options. I tore one side of my diffuser because I thought I was pulling on one of these flaps, but it was actually one of the sewn sides. Don't be a doofus like me! Even with the slight tear, this diffuser is still functional and really helped make my first wedding reception photos shine.

Good softbox, but hard to keep secured on flash.
This diffuser works well for it's intended purpose, which is diffusing and spreading out the flash so that you don't get as much "flash face" on your subjects and you normally do when using a speedlight. I use this with the Neewer VK750 II i-TTL Speedlite Flash and it works very well. If you attach it right (more on this in a minute), it will significantly soften the flash. I had bought this with my flash, but only started using it at nighttime events I photograph a couple of months ago. It definitely has made a difference. The one problem (and the reason it doesn't get five stars), is like other reviewers have mentioned, it's hard to secure it onto your flash. The Velcro that came with mine was not long enough to secure the softlight around my flash, so I've mostly resorted to just letting it hang on there without being secured. For the most part, it stays on okay, but with sudden movements it will fall off. It takes about 5 seconds to reattach, so it's not the end of the world. You can also rig up a quick workaround by using something else to secure this to your flash (hair ties work well). As a tip, try to put this is far towards the end of your flash as possible. The farther away from the light it is, the more it will spread the light evenly on your subject. If you put this all the way in so it's touching the light, it won't do much for you.Overall, despite the issues with securing it, this is a very good little softbox for $8, and will improve your flash pictures if used right.

A Flash Diffuser for Less than 10 Dollars that Does the Trick Well
How is it possible to rate this item as anything less than five stars? It's inexpensive, light, flattens out like a piece of paper, and yet still gets the job done: when you need to use a flash and don't want the harsh effects of a direct light source, this will do the trick. But it's not just the cost that makes this item appealing. Because it is so light, and because it flattens out so nicely, its highly portable and easy to carry with you, even when you're not sure you'll need it. The cloth (actually, a nylon mesh) opens up to wedge shape with a smaller rectangular opening on the opposite side of the diffuser cloth. You slip the opening over your flash unit, and then secure it by wrapping around the supplied Velcro strap. It's that easy. If you are worried that it might come lose and drop off right at the most inconvenient moment, you can always use a little bit of tape to secure it in place. But if you take the time to mount it and wrap the Velcro strap on, it should not fall off (unless you are shooting outside in windy conditions, where the extra holding power of tape might be warranted.) The cloth and seam quality seem to be very good, and I don't expect any trouble arising from construction issues. The diffuser cloth itself is slightly less flexible, so when you open it up and mount it, the diffuser forms a flat surface. An easy five stars.

Better lighting for better photography
I love it. I get to take better pictures with more even lighting.

Good price, adaptable to most flashes.
I have been a fan of Neewer products for years. This is a good diffuser, which I intend to use shooting macro photographs. It fits my Sony Flash very well.

Maybe I'm using it wrong
Doesn't hold its shape well and ends up half-folding up and drooping down. It's still diffuses the flash in that orientation, but doesn't look very professional, if that's important to your situation.
