This calculator is hands-down the best I have ever had the honor of using. While the TI-84 Plus may not have as much space or as many pre-loaded Apps as the TI-84 Plus Silver Edition, the TI-84 Plus offers everything a high school (possibly some college) math student needs in order to successfully learn and solve mathematics material. The TI-84 Plus comes loaded with several Apps that will make things even more convenient, such as a Probability Simulator and Cabri Jr., a great geometry app. Student looking to upgrade from the TI-83 Plus will find comfort in the fact that the TI-84 Plus is 2.5x faster and has 3x the memory than the TI-83 Plus. The TI-84 Plus is also extremely easy to hook up to your computer to transfer new Apps and updates to it using the USB port and the included USB cable. The TI-84 Plus will be a great investment for any student's education. I didn't want to purchase such a high cost calculator when there are much cheaper work arounds. However, for kids in school, college or taking college tests like SAT and ACT--this calculator is allowed to be used (as is the model below it. So, i bit the dust and purchased it. It works great. It is the standard used in schools so my daughter learned how to use and and can get help on it. The biggest thing is that most of the kids have these and many look alike so you need to mark it well to show it is yours and reduce the chance of theft. this of course isn't TI's fault--but it is good to know. The ti 84+ (this model) has mathprint (stacked fractions and symbols) and a USB cable. TI-83 doesn't have this. Also, i understand that this is faster than the 83. The silver edition os TI 84+ has spreadsheets and SAT/ACT test prep included. That may make it worth the increased price, but I didn't know that until I had already purchased this one. The Memory ROM/RAM between the models are: 160K/24K on TI83 480K/24K on TI84 Plus 1.5 MB/24K on TI 84 + Silver addition (again making the silver addition probably the better value)

This TI product is excellent! I bought it as a gift for my daughter, and she absolutely loves it. As a high school student, she needs it for her learning, and it’s been incredibly helpful for her classes. The quality is top-notch, and it’s easy to use—perfect for supporting her education.

Arrived early and is perfect for college math algebra, calculus and engineering classes! Screen isn’t led, but it’s bright enough for use in well lit environment. This calculator is very reliable and comes with pre-installed apps that teach you different math skills and is able to solve equations with missing variables. It is a bigger calculator, but worth it! Only comes in one color black, grey and white which is okay, but it also came with 4 triple A batteries and the usb cord.

Works well, much more advanced than my TI84 in high school years ago. Software updates only good for 4 years, so the calculator that should last from middle school through med school needs new software every 4 years.

I have been using this device for two months for Calculus 1, and it is accurate all the time. The box includes the calculator, slide case, mini-USB cable, I/O cable, getting started guide, CD-ROM, and four AAA batteries. The device is powered by 4 AAA batteries and a lithium battery backup to protect RAM. It has a 15 MHz processor, 480 KB of ROM for data and app storage, an I/O port, and a mini-USB port, which can be used to load apps found on the Texas Instruments official website. Additionally, the calculator comes preloaded with 12 apps. Cabri Jr™ (interactive geometry), Conic Graphing, Inequality Graphing, and Probability Simulation are four of the most useful preloaded apps for most students. The five keys at the top of the calculator (y=, window, zoom, trace, and graph) and their second function keys (stat plot, tblset, format, calc, and table) are conveniently placed for students to graph and view a table of x and y values for the function. The calculator has shortcut keys for common functions such as x^-1, x^2, sqrt(x), 10^x, and e^x. It also has the mathematical constants pi and e on the right hand side of the calculator. SUMMARY: PROS: Good all-around graphing calculator for high school and early college-level math; apps can expand this hardware's feature set; calculator is approved for SAT/ACT/AP exams; long battery life; great user interface CONS: This calculator is a bit expensive, considering the cost to produce this hardware; it doesn't have a computer algebra system, so it lacks features such as taking limits, finding partial and total derivatives, finding some indefinite and definite integrals, matrix operations, and advanced statistical computation. If you need a computer algebra system, you should go with the TI-Nspire CX CAS or the TI-89 Titanium Graphing Calculator ; both are permitted on the SAT and the AP. If cost is a concern, get the Casio fx-9750GII Graphing Calculator , which has similar functionality to the TI-84.

Ordered for my highschool student. It has helped tremendously, and was cheaper than the store.
