Genius iPad Mini Case

I had a Zagg keyboard folio case for my iPad mini since December 2013 and it broke recently (the hinge cracked and it was no longer functional). I loved this case for so many reasons, but I'm pretty sure the case caused my screen to crack before the hinge of the case itself visibly broke, so that kind of sucks. (I dropped it 1 foot off the ground onto a soft carpet when it was in its case and the screen shattered. It still works and I just bought a screen protector to put over it to keep it from breaking further).Since I needed a new case, I bought a Speck stylefolio case at Target. It was pretty, but I didn't like it because I primarily use my iPad in bed, and the case didn't do a very good job of holding the iPad upright. So I returned that and looked online for a better case. I decided on this Zugu case because of the positive reviews (I even checked on fakespot.com to see if the reviews were genuine, and according to that site's analysis, they are genuine) and because the base of it looked big enough to keep the iPad upright on an uneven surface (like in my lap in bed). I wasn't really thrilled with how it looked and wish it came in different colors, but that's not really that important I guess. I received my case yesterday and tried it out. The velcro tabs are really secure and I had no problems with my iPad falling over when I used it in bed. It seems to hold my iPad pretty securely so I won't have to worry about it sliding out of the case. It is slightly bigger than I would like (I have a Vera Bradley iPad mini sleeve that the other cases fit nicely into, but this Zugu case just barely fits and I'm afraid it might break the zipper on the iPad sleeve). The auto sleep/wake feature is nice when it works properly. I have to double check to see that my iPad actually goes to sleep when I close the case and I often have to readjust the flap that goes over the screen to get it to fall asleep. I'm also used to opening my Zagg folio case the other way (like a laptop, which I prefer) so this case's angles will take some getting used to. If it came in other colors/styles, was slightly smaller, and the auto sleep/wake feature worked 100% of the time, I'd give it 5 stars.

This case is very well made and durable. It is easy to place at any angle you want. I have dropped it several times and there are no marks on it (unlike the old plastic case I had that cracked and chipped). The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is that you do have to adjust the mini within the case to get the camera lens uncovered and see all of the screen. Most of the time this is not an issue and does not bother me but when I do want to take a picture I first have to adjust the casing since it covers up a part of the camera lens if I do not. Additionally, the top items such as the time and charge get covered up. Again, usually not a big deal but in the event I do want to see these, and additional items, I do have to lift up a piece of the case or adjust the mini within. The outside buttons are always easily accessible.

We have 3 iPad mini's and have gone through many cases. The cheaper ones, <$20, lasted six months or less before they had to be tossed out. The more expensive ones, $20 to $30 price range, survived a year but started to fall apart right around seven to eight months. We are very happy with this ZooGue case. After eight months, it still looks new in spite of rough handling and numerous drops/falls. The edges are well protected and the magnets (for the sleep function and to hold the case closed) work well. The only problem we had was the bottom edge of the case covered the lower part of the screen. Three flat wooden coffee stir sticks inserted along the bottom edge lifted the mini high enough so the entire screen is visible. If not for this minor problem, I would have rated it a full 5 stars. The case is good looking, performs as expected, and the price point is reasonable.

This case is great for two reasons: it has many adjustable horizontal positions and it's very sturdy so it does a great job protecting your costly Ipad. If you're looking for a case that lets you stand up your Ipad in both horizontal and vertical positions this case will not work. In a vertical position you must lay the case flat. But if you primarily use your Ipad in a horizontal position it's perfect because the velcro system allows for many different positions. The only possible con to note is that the lower edge of the cover slightly gets in the way when trying to delete trash from email. I haven't noticed it being in the way in any other function. And it is soft enough to just push down if it does get in the way. I paid much more for my original case (another brand) and this is far superior.

Had this case for a while. It was listed as being leather. It is not, at least the one that I received wasn't. It's just plastic. It has held up quite good, but if I had wanted a plastic case, there's a lot of them out there for a lot less money.UPDATE: Shortly after posting this, I received an email from the company. I was told that I could receive a full refund if I wanted to return it, but decided to keep it as it's really a nice case. As a goodwill gesture, I received a partial refund. This is great customer service and not seen by many companies, so don't hesitate to buy from them as they do stand behind their products.

Like another customer mentioned, it's quite overwhelming when you're looking to make a first time purchase of a case for your brand new iPad. I picked this case based on the 5 star rating. It seems to be a nicely made/sturdy case, and I really like the way the edge of the entire tablet is protected. I especially appreciate being able to set the viewing angle-that's a definite bonus. Since this is my first case, I can't speak to the comments of it being bulky. It's no less bulkier than carrying a book in your purse. My only issue is cosmetic. I would have appreciated a choice of colors and wasn't quite prepared to see the velcro strips on the front cover of the case. Totally cheapens the look.. But this is my first case and the price was right, so I'll happily deal with the exposed velcro.

I have been using this item for almost 3/4 month. I liked this item. It is bit heavy but it is protective. It's leather finishing gives a classy looks also.

Good product. But. Expensive.

Unfortunately I didn't get along with this. I found it heavy, the leather screen surround infringes on use and it's a rather bulky/ugly design. This is from a personal viewpoint, however - it does the job!
