Review: Good BT Keyboard for the Surface PRO - Works as expected, no issues with my Surface PRO 4. My type cover port on the Surface broke and I could not use any type covers on it. This was the next best option I could find. Keep in mide the following if you are looking at this product: - It is a Bluetooth keyboard/glide point. It does not interface with the Surface through the type cover port - It fits on the bottom of the Surface with magnets and I have not had any issues with it falling off. - It is slightly thicker than a regular type cover - It needs to be recharged periodically, USB-C cable included - It must be turned on/off separately from the computer. So far it has worked great for what I needed. The only negative I have so far is there is no battery capacity available. Other BT devices will show the battery strength under the Devices on the computer, but not this one. No issues loosing BT connection or unavailability problems.

Good BT Keyboard for the Surface PRO
Works as expected, no issues with my Surface PRO 4. My type cover port on the Surface broke and I could not use any type covers on it. This was the next best option I could find. Purchased on a Lighning deal on a chance...
For the price I paid, I got what paid for. The unit fits on my Surface Pro 17 just fine (does not plug into the Surface, only magnetically snaps to the bottom, i.e., does not interface/charge via the Surface). It does fold over the Surface screen just as if it was genuine Microsoft product which was really cool and magnet grip is really, really strong - it won't fall off from the Surface. The lighted key are bright enough to be used in the dark, but the keys go off after 10-15 seconds of non-use. The only troubling thing is the charging port. It has to be the most strangest powering port in the world. Takes me quite an effort to get it to engage (magnetic hold in place and right in way of use making charging while in use a little difficult). So far, the thing has stayed charged for five eight-hour use days without running out of juice. Only other thing is when attached to the Surface it jacks up the keyboard as if it had fold out feet like you see on a normal keyboard. That is not an issue for me (I like a sloped keyboard), but it is so thin, it "oilcans" (i.e. bows with pressure) as opposed to laying flat on the desktop. A little annoying, but usable. Also, it starts up with the NUMLOCK always on which disables the letter keys, so you have to remember to turn off NUUMLOCK each time you start it up. SUPER ANNOYING! Not sure why it would default to that configuration?

Stopped working after 2 weeks
My keyboard just stopped working on me, after only using it for about 2 weeks. Thankfully Amazon is issuing me a refund, because I'm don't trust this company to send me a working replacement. From the very start this keyboard was problematic. I couldn't figure out how to even turn it on and pair it correctly until I watched the instructional video listed in the (useless) instruction booklet that came with it. Turning it on was always a gamble, anyway, because it didn't always turn on the first time; sometimes I had to hold down the button for a few seconds, other times it would turn on directly. Last night it was working fine, and I let it go to sleep, but then I couldn't wake it to use it again. It wouldn't charge, it wouldn't respond at all. Aside from the trouble I had with this thing not working right, I also didn't like that the charge port was the older style so I had to keep that specific cord to use. The charging light did not turn green when it was charged, it only turned off. There was no way to know when the battery was low. There was no bluetooth indicator, and the power button was a weird lump, not an actual switch, and you couldn't tell if it was off or asleep. I hope the newer model that has a switch works better than this - but I'm not going to try and find out. I bought the Inateck board and so far I love it. Miles better for a few more dollars. At least the Amazon customer service agent went through trying to turn it on with me (which it didn't) and is giving me a full credit refund. I won't be buying from Tomsenn again. Edit: Oct 20, 2021 - I'm now getting emails from the company trying to bribe me to remove this review for $30. Not cool, super shady. Stay away from this company. Buy Inateck instead.

Super good deal. Worth more.
This keyboard is super cool. I was worried because it was so inexpensive that it would be junk, but it IS REALLY GREAT! Fits my surface pro 3 perfectly. It's good quality. I can change the color for whatever mood I'm in. The touch pad works exactly like it should. I deffinatly recommend this item. I've only charged it the one time. I've had it two weeks. I don't use it a lot, but I still haven't had to charge it a second time yet. I love it. And this is a sincere review. I'm not posting it for a reward, just for the pure purpose of letting anyone that wants to know if it's worth it, that I think it deffinatly is.

Early review: greatwith onemajor flaw (andit'sthe space bar)
So what you see is apparently what you get. The headline is a preview of how often the space bar fails to work properly. Even trying to really jam on it, it still fails over 70% of the time and it is beyond frustrating to go back and edit spaces in. If there's one thing I'd like a keyboard to do, it's allow me to type quickly, effortlessly, and not add any errors into my typing. This is day one of use. I've ordered a new one with the hope that this issue is isolated, but if the next one is the same, I'll drop the rating and switch to another brand. It's unfortunate because I really like the backlit color selection and brightness. I'm not a fan of the usb-c connector as it's the only device I own that isn't mini-usb, but that's more a personal preference and convenience. This keyboard is slightly thicker than other keyboards of the same ilk I've used, but not so much as to be heavy. I actually like the slightly more stable feel. If only I could use it to actually type at speed. Instead of my usual 65 wpm focused on the content of what I'm writing, I'm probably at 20 stilted wpm constantly backspacing to attempt to put in proper spacing. On the back-lighting going off, it does and rather quickly. I'm assuming it's to extend battery life which is completely reasonable. It is quite distracting though despite that the lighting pops on again the moment you press (blindly if you're in the dark) any key. Unlike my previousoff-brand keyboard, this one has a very discreet and unobtrusive on/off button that's appreciated. Aside from a critical key not functioning properly, I do like the easy touch of the remaining keys. They are appropriately sensitive and have a nice, gentle spring. Will amend when the replacement keyboard arrives.

Ignore the complainers. Works just fine and as described.
The multiple colors of backlights is pretty cool. If you read the reviews of any Surface Pro type case, most of the reviews are insanely negative, yet for the most part it’s since people don’t understand technology. Yes, you need to charge it. Yes, it uses Bluetooth. Yes, it won’t have unlimited battery life. Most people reading this have probably seen the same negative reviews on every type case. Well, I went with this one, received it today, and it connected to my Surface Pro 4 just fine. Not sure why everyone has such unrealistic expectations for keyboards but I’m glad to have a working keyboard again!

Not durable, battery life is terrible
I used this type cover for quite awhile. I didn't realize how bad it was until I ordered a Microsoft type cover to replace it once it fully stopped working, and realized that this one is a pretty terrible design. First off, it requires an internal battery that is charged via USB-C. I just assumed this was how the Microsoft type cover worked too, but it is not--it draws power from the Surface itself (duh). It seemed like a huge design flaw to need 2 different charging cables for a device, but I didn't question it at the time. The battery life was terrible and soon reached a point where it had to be plugged in at all times to work. Then the connection got spotty, where the type cover would disconnect randomly every few hours. Then the track pad got inconsistent. Then some of the keys stopped working. All in all, a pretty awful substitute for the real Microsoft type cover. Just do yourself a favor and spend the few extra bucks for the real thing.

Not worth it
So, I presume the parasitic nature of those who makes these products is not lost on their customers. And I also presume that like me, they were led to this purchase because their Surface Pro keyboards stopped working, and thought a replacement keyboard by Microsoft seems way too expensive. Yep, that's the trap I fell into and I regret it. Please ignore the nonsensical description of the product in the Amazon description. The things you need to know are: (a) the dimensions are slightly bigger than all Surface Pro versions so while the fit is workable, its not neat (and its much heavier than the Microsoft keyboard); (b) it works on Bluetooth so there can be delays on connection; (c) the battery does not last very long, so you are constantly in need of charging; (d) now whereas, the product is still relatively functional despite the issues (a) to (c), the issue that makes this a waste of money is the touchpad - its awful! For some reason (possibly related to drivers), the pad has a number of 'gesture rules' that are explained in the instruction manual. Good that is explained, but....why? Why can it not function as a normal touchpad. It makes it completely unworkable. Every time I track whilst in an open window, it will minimise, move it or even close it - perhaps because I have swiped too slowly or too quickly and enabled one of the 'gesture rules'. And I cannot do anything to disable them. I just want it to perform as a normal touchpad. You will be better off buying the Microsoft replacement, because as much as this seems cheaper, it still costs enough in comparison.

Quality for an affordable price
Edit - been using for a month or so now. Touch pad can be little funny and sensitive. Some keys get skipped when typing sometimes which is annoying. But for the price compared to what Microsoft wants, the hiccups don’t bother me! Great quality, quite impressed actually. Microsoft wants $200+ for a replacement keyboard, a joke. Love that this one has different back light colours and a Bluetooth option which my original broken one from Microsoft does not offer. Very impressed with this product. Will update if anything changes.

Space Bar
Great keyboard but the space bar does not work consistently. At least 50 percent of the time, it needs to be clicked twice. I have resorted to just typing everything and going back to editing and adding spaces after. My so used my Surface Pro and laptop and he was super frustrated. As am I but I've already paid good money so I'll just have suck it up to work around it.

TERRIBLE and Incorrect product, only buy from Microsoft for the safest, best experience.
First off, I ordered the gray backlit keyboard... Look at the alt and right click keys, they're supposed to be light buttons. Regardless... When I first received it, I was surprised by how good the build felt. The texture was very good however, the moment I started charging it, everything went downhill. I charged for ~30mins and started using it. It felt great, I ran a key test on it and everything worked except for the backspace button which felt weird. However the moment I unplugged it, the low battery light lit up, and it died on me INSTANTLY. it was no longer chargeable, and I had to write this review with my touchscreen keyboard. Do not trust this sketch brand.

Highly recommended - seller stands up for his product!
I have purchased this keyboard a couple of months ago, and it worked very well. However about a week ago two keys popped off (the left - right arrow keys). I contacted the seller asking for help and within a few hours I got the offer to get a replacement at no extra charge (as there is a 1 yr warranty). About 4 days later the replacement has arrived and it is perfect. So: overall the item is very good, and if there is an issue, the seller is there to take care of it. Highly recommended - great item, top notch customer service!
