Prince: Purple Reign

Loved it, author gave a very well written unbias portrait of this amazing artist. If you are looking for a tell all book that focuses on only the private day by day account of Prince, you probably won't be furfilled. This book does however mentioned private personal moments with him told by others according to their recollections. If you are more interested in his career, talent, and genus this is the book to read in my opinion. As a avid admirer of his talent and music, this book was extremely satisfing. Will definitely purchase the actual book to add to my home library, since I only purchased it for Kindle. There are many Kings however, there was only one Prince!!!

I grew tired of waiting for the hard cover edition, which I'll still buy, and ordered the Kindle version. So far, it's well-written and the author tried to give an unbiased review of Prince. The quality of the Kindle edition is excellent. UPDATE: The Kindle edition didn't have pictures; the hard cover book does have good quality pictures, some I've seen before and some I haven't. Is the price difference between the Kindle price and the hard cover book's price worth it? For me, the hard cover was my Christmas gift so the pictures were a nice addition. I like this book either way.

This book is very well-written and is delivered in a fair and balanced manner. Mick is clearly a fan, but never let's that compromise his historical description of Prince, throughout the many phases of his career. I learned so many things I hadn't known about Prince...and I knew a lot, even before I read this. Thanks to Nick for the unvarnished account of the man and his music. Highly recommended, especially if you already think you knew a lot about Prince.

Disappointed with this book. One picture incorrectly identifies Cat Glover as Sheila E. 3121 gets no mention. Seemed rushed especially at the end. Better books are available. Check out SLAVE TO THE RHYTHM by Liz Jones or CHAOS, DISORDER AND REVOLUTION PRINCE by Jason Draper.

This is the most up to date and honest I've read. It discusses Prince's flaws, talent and charitable acts equally. I recently read a now out of print bio that focused on Prince's control freak personality and nothing else. Turns out the author had been in a lawsuit with Prince. Purple Reign covered the good and the bad.

Great, as described

An intimate look at the genius and very private side of Prince couched amid the largess and enduring excitement of a very public celebrity world. The book ends abruptly -- as it should, in the speculation of death but like death -- too soon, I wish there was to generate even more.
