Vidal Sassoon Pro Series London Luxe Hair Color Kit, 4RV Mayfair Burgundy

I love this product because the colorant is a stiff cream. The mixture is not drippy... or not too much. I use a brush to apply to my hair lines (roots first). So this is a very easy color to apply. The coverage was terrific and I love the color. Not as dramatic as the box color...but definitely a beautiful dark red. What I like about the color is that it's the first one I've used that colors the whole head the same color. Even though I did the roots first and then the rest of the head for about ten minutes... it came out so evenly colored, you can't see any lines of demarkation. I am definitely going to purchase this color for my next application until I give up and go gray or white or whatever. I didn't notice that the smell was any different than the others I've used. In fact, my husband didn't even complain or notice the smell. He usually says something about it, but not this time.

I love everything about this dye. I have natural dark brown hair and have been dying it red for years, so I wasn't sure what the final result would actually look like on me, but I was so pleased! It is so hard to achieve a rich purple without using bleach, but Vidal Sassoon managed to do it. The dye itself is not overpowering during application, and is extremely easy to clean up any spillage you may encounter. Even as it fades it stays beautiful. The top left photo is right after dyeing, the bottom left is 5 months after and the photo on the right is 8 months after initial application, no touch ups at all. This was my first experience with Vidal's hair dye and I am so, so happy I decided to step out of my comfort zone and give them a shot!

The color turned out amazing at first!! Just as I hoped for! The only thing I will say is that after only ONE wash with cold water, color safe shampoo and the conditioner that the dye comes with, (I waited 2 days after dying like you're supposed to) there was noticeable fading. I didn't expect fading to occur so fast. The pictures were taken before the wash. Other than that, the color still looks fine even after fading and a generous amount of dye and conditioner comes in the packaging.

I loved this color the first couple of weeks. As time goes on, the color is becoming more red-head with a slight orange tinge. I still like the color, but I am concerned that if I keep using this my hair may start to look a little brassy. I will buy another and see what happens.

I bought 2 boxes 1 new 1 open package which I was supposed to pay less than regular price.I ended paying same amount plus not having a hair conditioner..... I love the product but hate how I was misguided on the price!!

Mayfair Burgundy ended up being more of a normal burgundy red with a slight pink-purple tint. The tint didn't last long either, but on the plus side it did fade to a lovely red color. Here is the color a month later.

I won;t buy this again because I can barely see the color. I have dark drown hair and this color just does not show up on my hair. I will try a lighter color next time.

Usually I use the Garnier dyes. This had good color, but overall it was a bit messier to use. It didn't mix as smoothly and my hair felt a little rougher than it usually does with Nutrisse or Garnier.
