Panasonic MIC150 Shotgun Mic for AG-HMC40 and AG-HMC150 Professional Camcorders

I finally got this mic and installed it with the Panasonic XLR Adapter on the AG-HMC40. It definitely picks up sound better than the camera's internal mic. The sound is clean and more focus. The downside is that you lose true stereo sound. You can adjust the XLR adapter to set the L/R soundtracks to record the mono sound and mimic stereo, but you won't be able to achieve true stereo sound like listening to a car pass by from left to right. I guess there's the option of installing a second mic since the adapter can support 2 XLR sources.The only other thing that I noticed is that the mic's wire can pickup EMI (Electro Magnetic Interference). I added the ferrite core that came with the camera and installed it to the mic's wire. Slight improvement, but if you touch the wire, the EMI sound can be noticed. I will try to think of a DIY solution to this issue. And yes, I had the ATT set to on at the XLR Adapter.I only hear the EMI in a very quite room with earbud type headphones, so no biggie...In terms of size, the mic isn't too big. It actually a tiny mic. The Rode Video Mic is a lot longer.Overall, so far so good...

works perfectly with my camera. very happy with the quality and with the ease of use. We are filming a documentary "What Michael Sees" and I have obtained a lot of my equipment through Amazon.

It is great and has never let me down in 3 years. I would recommend it for the serious filmmaker, especially if they prefer to take sound both from the environment as well as from a dedicated mike source.

This shotgun mic worked well with my Panasonic camera. Plug it in and it's ready to go out of the box. Good sound quality at close range and decent quality far away. Works very well for nat sound.

OMG, this is a very good external microphone. I bought this external microphone for my panasonic HMC 150 broadcast video camera and it has a very good range from any distance. Strongly recommand it.

Ordered Panasonic MC70 from J&R, when received all markings on the packaging and unit state "HD Proline MC70", doesn't say "Panasonic" anywhere on the packaging, unit or 1 page flyer that it came with. There is no brochure - just a flyer that looks like it has been copied on the used copy machine. No warranty card or serial number anywhere. Doesn't come with the stand, that is shown on the picture. When attached to my Panasonic AG-HMC150, at -50db it does pick up some white noise when filming in quite environment. My e-mail request for clarifications directly to Panasonic customer service has not been answered for 4 days ... still waiting.
