{My thoughts} – Rapunzel is a sweet 12 year-old girl that is excited to get her birthday haircut. However, instead of being able to celebrate her birthday with her mom and dad her world ends up being turned completely upside down. By following along the premise of the original story, Rapunzel’s dad had promised her to a witch in return for the herb in which his wife had been craving that was growing in the witch’s garden. When the witch collects her debt and takes the girl she only allows her a few meager possessions and then locks her up in the tower away from everything she had ever known. She has a keeper there for her that is able to go in and out undetected. That keeper prepares her food and more or less guards her. He too was forced to pay a debt in which the witch had decided to collect on.One day Rapunzel is singing a song and a Prince happens to hear it. He follows the sound of her singing until he comes upon the tower in which she is being held. The two of them come up with a plan in which they will attempt to break her out of the tower. On the day they are finally going to put their plan into action Rapunzel says the wrong thing and the witch hears it. The witch ends up getting furious with Rapunzel. She then takes her from the tower and throws her out in the middle of the woods to make her fend for herself. The problem after that is that neither the Prince nor Rapunzel know where they other is and they both feel really bad about it.If you’d like to know what happens you’ll need to read the book. I promise you won’t be disappointed. I found it to be a brilliant retelling. I always love to read other writers spins on classic stories. Wendy Mass definitely has a knack for spinning a classing tale into a modern story.I recommend this book for any child that enjoys fairytales. I strongly believe that they will enjoy reading about Rapunzel and the Prince. It’s a well written retelling that doesn’t take much time at all to read through. I look forward to reading the rest of the series in the future.

Enjoyed, but not my fave
So, I admit I have not read too many Wendy Mass books, but I have read enough to know she is talented. My biggest problem w/ #TwiceUponATime is that the plot's always like this: Meet the guy. Meet the girl. A bunch of stuff that is a lot of the tike completely irrelevant to the story, especially in the Beauty and the Beast one. One detail from that part is important. By this time the book is almost over. Last pages: Guy meets girl. One rescues the other. They use important detail to defeat villain or escape the bad place. They meet each other-s family. Done. I usually get bored during the stage where a bunch of unimportant stuff happens. Well, every book but Sleeping Beauty. That one was epic. Rapunzel book was not my favorite but not my least fave either. Would read again, and I recommend it to readers.

Cute, took too long, not enough of the good stuff.
My daughter and I just finished this book. We enjoyed the book, it was cute, but I was hoping for more of a modern twist that this offered. It wasn't too much off from the main story, it just told the story through Rapunzel's eyes and she complains of the typical things one might complain about as a teen. My other minor complaint is that the ENTIRE book, up until the very last couple chapters (and those chapters were short) was about Rapunzel and the tower. My daughter and I found ourselves getting very near to the end of the book, and she STILL hadn't even been discovered. So, this left little time for us to giggle and read about her and her rescuer..maybe that was just us. Cute book though. We have all three (Beauty and the Beast, and Sleeping Beauty) and we just started Beauty and the Beast and I already see a similarity that could end up being too repetitive.. 4 stars because my daughter did like the Rapunzel book. She is a, rather mature, 6 year old.

5 stars
I gave this book a five star rating because so fun, adventurous, and even a little funny at times. One thing I didn't really understand was why the witch does what she does because the author never really gave a solid reason. I would recommend this book to my sister because she loves these kind of books. I love Wendy Mass's Beauty and the Beast book and Rapunzel is my favorite disney character so I enjoyed the book even more.

Great series...except it stops at book 3:(
These are really great books. My daughter loves fairy tales told with a different twist (as do I). These stories offer that fun, different perspective. The only drawback is, my daughter became super interested in these stories...and then, for whatever reason, they stopped publishing new books in the series:( Sadly, we had to look elsewhere for alternative fairy tales on her grade level.

Best Story Ever
From LC, Age 9: This book was funny, it was sad, some points were scary. It was Happy, and that. Are things I make a great story. I loved Snowflake the horse and the boys Andrew and Elkin are very funny!

Just ok...great concept, hard to read/understand at times.
Eh, took a long time for my daughter to get thru this one. Wish it was written in current times, some of the words I never even heard of before yet alone my 3rd grader! (who is at a 6th grade reading level). Concept is wonderful, just needs some "help" with the writing for girls to keep interested.Just sad I bought #2 and #3 at the same time....I doubt she will be reading these.
