Thorough, complete, scholarly; yet a very handsome book, cheap for what it is, too.
I've been learning Egyptian for a few years, and original texts to read are hard to come by. Here and there one can find a few transcribed things, often in some scholar's handwritten hieroglyphics; or (Allen's Middle Egyptian Literature for example) nicely typeset but the translation right there on the same page in such a way that you can't really work on it by yourself then check later, see if you got it right. But this Ani Papyrus is a gorgeous full-color reproduction (albeit of a composite papyrus, but they address that in the introductory material) of a long complete text, and although they give their translation with each plate, it's at the bottom of the page, which you can easily cover with a piece of paper while you struggle with your own reading. Purists will point out these aren't hieroglyphics strictly speaking, but cursive hieroglyphics, but that's close enough, doesn't pose any particular problems. There's a full introductory section about the papyrus, its history, etc.I was surprised how cheap this book was, given the dozen of superbly beautiful color plates.

Better than expected!
This book is fantastic! The complete papyrus is in color and some pages fold out. It is divided into short section and translated. I am very impressed with this book. It is very large, but in the best way :)

Beautiful Book
This is absolutely beautiful and very well made. I appreciate the larger print, which makes for easy reading. I like the way the information in this book. I'm very happy with my purchase.

Great addition minus the size.
Its really well done and great quality. Only reason I won't give it 5 stars is due to the ridiculously big size of the book. Its a bit unnecessary but I'm sure some will find giant books appealing. It certainly will not fit in any bookshelf I have lol. Other than that very well done and recommended it due to the artwork that is included.

Very large book
It's a beautiful book, the only issue I have with it (which is totally my own fault for not bothering to look at the dimensions) is that it's huge in size. Not thickness, but it's 9.5x14 (If I could find my ruler I would double check it, because I could swear it's even larger than that). There's no way it will fit on my bookshelf, one of my friends commented "This isn't a book, it's a tome!" I will end up having to lay it down on my bookshelf and put other books on top just so I can put it somewhere. But since the dimensions are clearly listed in the product details, I won't deduct a star. It really is my own fault.Moving right along...The artwork is beautiful, the pages are beautiful. It's really an impressive and gorgeous book and some pages even fold out. As if the hieroglyphics were too valuable to split up for another page, so they just made a larger page and folded it inward. Pretty clever. It's definitely worth the money you pay for it, but just be cautious...it is a very large book and won't fit on a standard bookshelf.I will probably end up buying another version, one that DOES fit on my shelf better, so that I can easily grab and go. This isn't a book you can take with you anywhere and read at your leisure, which is what I want in my books. Portability.

"More to our Existence than you think"
Boy am I glad I'm done reading this book, and I still don't know half of what I read, thank goodness at the end of the book there is a commentary by a Dr. of Near Eastern studies, who states, "There are many obscure parts that can't be explained".All in all a very interesting read with great pictures. The interesting points I found is they believe the Earth is a Firmament Oval surrounded by water i.e. Flat Earth,Horus the Hawk brings the dead mans soul to Osiris [in my own experience I find this to be true of certain people],Seth the great Bull, the soul of Geb,is a steeler of souls, laps up corruption and lives on what is putrid i.e.Satan.The book also talks of gate keepers for a lot of things for all sorts of things good and evil.Talks about many Great Councils i.e. Gods.RE who is cat like is the eldest of the Gods, which I found to fascinating as I believe the world is divided into cat people and bird people [lizards],the Sunshine God is above all, like Christianity [Mithraism] and the messenger came out of the body of the Sun i.e. Christ? that Atum created from his flesh, parts of your body represent Gods, like your eyes are Horus your phallus is Osiris etc,it talks of portals and sacrifices for the Limp one [Satan],final judgement before the council of Gods,[which I believe is true as well no matter what religion you are],it also says that you can encounter another world in your dreams,[which I believe is true as well].So some very interesting info to draw your own conclusions.
