Jorgensen Pet Piller

This Jorgensen pill shooter made giving my senior cat her Azodyl capsule go much faster and easier today! It arrived in the mailbox and I chose to clean it with alcohol before using it. I had my reservations but it pleasantly surprised me! I wouldn’t force the capsule too hard into the opening for fear of tearing it or spreading the precut slits further apart and making it harder to use in the future. I’ll try to give an update a week from now and maybe even a month so we can see if it can still grab a hold of the small capsule. I used coconut oil on the entire capsule and the tip end to assure it would go down quickly. If you have someone to help hold the cat, I would recommend that. I do wish the pen/syringe part was not so long. It makes it challenging to do by yourself. I’ll have to be careful to not shove it too far down her throat when trying to administer! I was thrilled to see I got it centered and pushed the pump fairly easily (except for length of syringe being an issue) and was surprised when I saw the tip was empty, that the capsule had gone down! I closed my cat’s mouth and stroked her throat as usual and she must’ve already swallowed it. I always make sure I have her food ready to put on the floor as soon as I realize she’s swallowed it so her very liquified food (I add several Tablespoonfuls UNSALTED broth to her renal support food) is ready to help her swallow capsule even more. Give this a try! Before this it was much more of a struggle. And in case you didn’t ask or research, no you can’t open and sprinkle the Azodyl on the cat’s food. Something about the way it needs to go further into the digestive tract before being exposed to the elements in order to work. Good luck!

Pill poppers are amazing. I have used this style of pill popper for years. Lost mine and thought to try this one that is 1/3 the price of the others listed on amazon. First off, the action is wonky compared to others I've tried. It doesn't "pop" when the pill is ejected. Second, my cat is recently on medication of hyperthyroid. Its the smallest pink pill I've ever seen, smaller than a peppercorn. First time I put it in the popper tip, the tip split sideways (not the way its supposed to). Even for $4 it was a waste of time and was returned out of spite. I purchased the 9$ ones listed with the light blue tip are much better. Go with those instead.

If you have medium to large pills or capsules, this will probably not work for you. I've never seen this type of pill popper, but have had others that look just like it. The difference is in the tip. This one has a very small hole and came with just one small slit on side instead of two. A defect? I don't know. Anyway, I took a pair of scissors and snipped the other side very slightly so I could get a pill in. It helps if you squeeze the tip to open it up to insert your pill. I have a small dog on different pills (capsule and otherwise) and a cat on those small thyroid pills and allergy pills. I always had trouble with the cat pills falling out of the other pill poppers, especially since I had to cut them in half (and they were already tiny), but this pill pusher actually works for those tiny pills! So I'm happy I can dose my cat now with his allergy and thyroid pills! If you are trying to give pills that are larger than an allergy pill, I would skip this pill popper, you will have trouble getting it in.

Perfect for administering 1/2 pills to my tiny Pomeranian

Not the best pill shooter I've ever used. The plunger was very stiff except when pulling it out then it would come out too far. I could not get the pill positioned just right so it would easily shoot into my cat (to be fair, it was a small pill). The slit in the end was not deep enough to hold the rather large diabetes pill I give my cat but seemed to work after I made the slits deeper.

This is very close to the pill gun that my vet sells, and I needed a replacement so I thought I'd give it a try. That being said, the quality is definitely not there. The tip is too firm in addition to having the slot cut off-center. This makes putting the pill inside very difficult. Additionally, the slot is too short. I ran into an issue where the pill kept bouncing out when trying to put it into the hole because of that combination of manufacturing decisions. If they rework this slightly it will be a much more functional product. In its current state it is frustrating to use and will fail. For a similar price you can purchase one from a local vet that works 100 times better and more reliably. I will be returning mine as I find those defects to be unreasonable for long term use. I'm sharing some photos and a video of this pill gun compared to another style (not the one from my vet). The other one is so bad it's basically trash, compared to this one that is sooo close to being really nice! The blue tip is this listing, and the white tip is the competitor.

When you need a pet piller, you usually need one right then—as was the case when I found myself bringing home my kitty from urgent care. With none for cats available at any of local pet stores or even the farm stores, I ordered this one in from Amazon. Understand I have given many pills to many cats over the years as we’ve rescued furbabies delivered by the cat distribution system. We had high quality pet pillers for years, but those are all back home on the east coast, not out here at the base with me. And this one is in no way up to the job—the blue tip to hold the pill was incredibly stiff, and barely cut open. It would be hard to use with either small pills (likely to get caught), or large pills—nearly impossible to get it to hold. And the plunger was very hard to use—it had stiff ribs at the base that made it very hard to pull backwards to load, and just hard to push in to dispense, sticking in place repeatedly. Giving my current kitty in need of care her meds is a bit analogous to wrestling an angry alligator, so I certainly don’t need to be fighting the pill popper just to get it to load and dispense the pill on cue. Returning and looking for a better version.

This is for a DOG, TOO BIG for a cat

I have a 3Kg cat that is an alligator to pill. She is CKD and needs her pepcid EOD. Made the task way easier,

It's a simple design - two pieces of plastic: a pen sized plastic tube with a slotted soft rubber/plastic tip and a slightly longer plastic insert piece/plunger. The plunger piece is inserted up to a "stop". When the plunger is fully depressed, the pill in the soft tip is "popped" out the end and down the back of the pet's throat. These two new ones have no "popping" effect and often the pill jams down the side of the plunger and within the outer tube. There's either a problem with the material or the sizing/dimensions of the plunger and tube. Useless..

Fine for smaller pills but cannot handle anything very large.
