KHR-3HV ver.2 Humanoid Robot

I have to give this one two ratings. 5 stars for the design. This is a very high quality robot. I am a Tool Maker so I know quality and precision when I see it. The assembly manual is very good, with only a few minor discrepancies. Use a little common sense and good judgment and you'll have no problems. Now for the bad, 2 stars, because everything is in Japanese. The documentation, and the software. You can find English versions, but you'll have to do a little surfing on the web. I downloaded the English version of the software and manual on the web. If your really good with computers, you'll have no problems getting the software up and running. The software manual itself just sucks. When you finally figure it out the software itself is not to bad. Although the software is not completely translated, it has some notes and warnings still in Japanese. Also there seems to be very little support trying to find accessories, such as the remote controller, and I fear more Japanese documentation for it. To me Kondo doesn't seem very interested in selling there product overseas. In conclusion, this robot I think, would not be a good choice for the first one. However a very good one for someone who is more experienced with robots.

Received the pack from galaxy japan... well packed... and before due date... It is quite challenging to assemble but the product is excellent.. best thing to buy if you are getting into robotics...

I purchased this robot 3 years ago and it is quite an amazing piece of technology. I am very impressed by the engineering built into this humanoid. This robot is for the serious hobbiest as the programming and wiring can be a bit challenging for the beginner. However, with a little patience, this product produces great rewards. If you love robots and are willing to take on an worthwhile activity, this is the project for you as it is educational and helps develop critical thinking. The manufacturer support is excellent, I had a some difficulty figuring out the wiring for the motherboard and sent the robot in for servicing, I was not dissapointed, they correctly wired the onboard computer to the servo network and now it is a fully functional machine. Yes it's a bit pricey compared to some of the other robots available, but you get what you pay for.
