Classic meets future
The Cross Edge Gel Ink Pen is where modern style meets smooth, high-performance writing. Its unique slide-open mechanism sets it apart—one fluid motion, and you’re ready to write. It’s satisfying, stylish, and just plain cool. What really stands out is the gel ink. It glides across the page with rich, consistent lines that don’t skip or smear. Whether you're jotting down notes or signing something important, it feels smooth and effortless every time. The ink dries quickly, making it great for left-handed users too. The build quality is what you'd expect from Cross: solid, weighty, and balanced in the hand. It has just enough heft to feel premium without being bulky. Plus, the soft-touch grip ensures comfort even during longer writing sessions. If you're looking for a pen that combines performance with a bold, futuristic design, the Cross Edge is a fantastic choice. It’s not just a pen—it’s a statement.

Great pen!!!
Great pen!! I have another Cross century set that was gifted 20+ years ago. That pen (and this pen) will outlive me. I have 2 - one for home and one stays in my bag. Highly recommend. Writes superbly, even on super cheap paper. Really enjoy how easy it is to open and close with one hand. UPDATE - WOW, pens are its own thing! I dove head in, all Cross. I grabbed another 3 of this pen, and 3 presidential favorites (for my EDC bag). I use this pen for longer writing sessions. The presidential favorites are if I’m out and about. I grabbed the gold plated versions too because I need to be extra fancy signing my IHOP checks.

A beautiful writing experience
As a high school teacher, I've had many pens over the years, some good, some great, but they all fell short in one way or another. This pen is as close to perfect as they come. The pocket clip is study and it is spring-loaded so that it clips securely to your shirt. The barrel is hefty, so if you like a slim, light pen, you may not like that. I like a fatter pen so it helps me write legibly. The mechanism is unusual but works beautifully--and with only one hand! I hate having to drop everything just so I can open my pen. Refills are reasonable priced and offer plenty of free-flowing ink in red, blue or black. Although the pen comes loaded with black, I love the blue. It's the perfect shade to stick out from black printing, and it's kind of a quick way to tell it's my writing on student work. And how is the writing, you ask? It's the smoothest, most well-balanced and skip-free experience I have ever had. It's like ice skating. The only caveat is that the lower plastic sleeve on the barrel is rather delicate compared to the rest of this durable pen. My advice, having gone through three of these, is to leave the tip a little loose. If you carny down on it, the sleeve will crack and chip off and, though the pen is still usable, it's not the most comfortable feel after that. Oh, and one more thing. Keep your eye on it since everyone will want to steal it once they've borrowed it.

Very nice pen
Was impressed with the reviews and ordered one. Looks and feels like a much pricier product, this is no cheap Cross. It's finish, shiny metal parts, the weight, moving parts, etc is simply first class. It feels like a pen designed by Audi for customers of its cars! Writes brilliantly, the ink flow and smoothness is right up there with the best. It does however have a peculiar aberration, I'm not sure if I should call it a problem. The pen has been designed so that the pen's pocket clip latches on to the breast pocket (mens shirt) with a good one and a half inches of the pen protruding out of the top of the pocket. It looks strange and disrupts the smooth flow of a work shirt, not really the sort of thing for an executive or management level staff. But women and men who carry the pen in a bag or who wear a jacket to work may have no issue with that. Still, for me, that takes away one star. I find it strange that no one has written of this before and I will try to upload pictures with the Cross and my regular Sheaffer pen in my pocket. The opening and closing mechanism, while unusual, is very intuitive and I've became accustomed to it. It was initially tight, but has now loosened up, yet it takes a bit more effort to get the tip fully extended. Still, once extended, the tip stays true and doesn't collapse on writing no matter what the pressure. All in all, a keeper.

Feels more expensive than it is
Terrific pen. The slide open/close works flawlessly with a Cross gel refill. (Even with some other refills like uniball signo and Energel). When closed it travels well yet when open is large enough to be very comfortable for lots of writing. Cross makes a jumbo ballpoint refill that also works well inside this pen if you prefer ballpoint ink over gel ink- key feature to this pen is that you have both gel and ballpoint refills available to purchase so as to switch between gel and ballpoint ink- I do that a lot. I have the pen in matte green, matte hazel nut, black, and red. All look great and work equally well.

Nice flow and innovative open/close feature
My previous Cross pen was nice, but I had if for a number of years. Finally, my laptop backpack caught on my clip and it broke. I wanted a pen that was shorter so it fit in my shirt pocket. The Mont Blanc had a very nice micro sized pen, but it is outside of my price range. I was leary of buying this on Amazon just because I couldn't see it and feel the weight. However, I have always liked Cross pens and felt it was worth the risk. The push/pull nature of opening the pen is pretty neat, but it isn't quite as one-handed as a twist or push button style. It is doable though. I like the flow of the ink. It is very smooth and makes a brilliant line. It also has a nice feel and works well for long writing sessions. I would recommend it as it is a nice pen at a very nice price.

This is my #1 pen.
I like this pen so much that I have a backup in my briefcase and I carry a spare cartridge. I am an engineer, a big Daytimer user, and I take a lot of notes all day long. I use the blue ink for contrast with the black toner on printed documents so I can make notes in reports, Powerpoints, and handouts. (Yes I use MS Office track changes when reviewing soft copies of internal documents but there is a lot of hard copy out there.). The gel cartridge gives a dark, inky line without the need to scratch the paper (like a fountain pen) but it is not finicky about the paper (shiny or rough, no problem) and I have never experienced a leak. One bonus: this pen writes on the shiny thermal paper used to print credit card receipts. Even though it is a very nice pen, it is not flashy like a Mont Blanc so it is far less likely to be stolen if you leave it out (I have had several Mont Blancs disappear over the years).
