Solid performance
I built a Mini-ITX PC, I thought the limitations imposed by compact form factor would make the project more interesting to do, and I was right. The only down side is that I hadn't allowed space for an optical drive! Generally this is fine as most of my modern storage is USB but I do have a rake of old archive discs that I need to access occasionally, so my thought is that I'll simply keep this external drive in the same place as the discs and the once or twice a year I need it I can bust it out. Tested with Windows 7 Pro and Windows 10 and the device was recognised straight away, no need to install any bloatware. Windows recognises the inner drive as a Matshita UJ8A0AS, which is a reliable time-proven piece of kit used in a lot of OEM laptops. The device seems well made, it's compact but sturdy enough. The tray mechanism is very similar to what you'd get in a laptop where you press the button on the front and the tray is released and pops forward about an inch (rather than being mechanised all the way like the old fashioned ones), this style is a lot quicker to use and less prone to damage in my opinion. Solid performance. The 3d waves texture on the top surface is a nice touch that you wouldn't see on really cheap ones.

Just what I needed but...
Excellent and compact but could have done with a longer lead as the placement of the USB ports on my PC meant I was limited in where I could place it. But otherwise good value for money.

Good value
Well made, does the job. Bit noisy

Quiet, does the job.. but a tad bit slow.
It does takes AGES to rip music from a CD onto Itunes (however much you try to change the settings) but nevertheless its quiet and does the job. If you're looking for a quick cheap fix, go for it. I don't think it's fit for purpose for long-term / day to day use though. The USB powering cable is also a bit flimsy..

Great service
Simple to use, worked straight out of the box on Windows 10 system.

I give up.
This is so disappointing. After hours of researching and reading amazon reviews to find a suitable external drive that would burn DVDs using a Windows 10 machine I chose this one as it seemed the least useless of those available. My Windows 10 laptop never recognised it despite restarting and trying multiple times. Then tried on my Apple computer too and while it recognised that there was something plugged in, it couldn’t read that there was a DVD let alone burn anything. Why is it so hard to find a drive that will actually do what it says it will?

Excellent value for money
Plugged in and worked straight away with a Surface Book 2 without any issues. Played DVD's and created a system repair disk successfully. Instructions were a bit whimsical: would have been better if written by someone who understood English. Would recommend purchase.
