Never Talk to Strangers

Pleased as punch!
This book came in perfect condition! I had this book as a child and was drawn to the illustrations. It occurred to me recently to look online to see if it was still available considering I have a nearly 3-year-old granddaughter who has never met a stranger. She runs up to everyone in public and hugs them, carries on conversations with them… you get the gist. We have been talking frequently about using caution around strangers and it's been difficult trying to impress the importance of not being over-friendly.She has enjoyed this book so much that she wants to read and reread it all the time. She loves the characters in the book and is starting to figure out that just because someone looks friendly or nice doesn’t mean that she should be bold and chummy with everyone. The last time we read it, she reminded me that we shouldn’t talk to strangers, and sometimes prior to entering a store, she’ll point out that we need to talk to each other and not others unless we know them. But on to the book… it is easy for even small children to understand. The illustrations are captivating and keep the children interested because each page is filled with unique-looking characters. The rhyming throughout is fun and prompts the kids to be interactive by repeating what they are hearing. Rhyming makes it easy for them to remember and is followed by the slogan, “Never Talk to Strangers.” One part of the book that I must not have caught on to as a child did capture my attention as an adult when it says that it’s okay to talk to the Easter Bunny. That obviously needs to be addressed when reading.Overall, I’m pleased with the purchase and would purchase it as a gift for other children in the family.

Very Good book for kids
I love this book I bought this book for my daughter when she was 5 years ago. I couldn’t believe I found this book again for my 6 yr old granddaughter. I know she’ll enjoy it as much as her mother did.

A must-read for little ones
A beautifully written book that teaches young children how to discern friends from strangers. It tactfully teaches children not to talk to strangers, without using scare tactics. The book uses animal characters, endearing illustrations, and rhyme to appeal to young children in a non-threatening way. The message and reading level are appropriate for advanced 3-year-olds and older. It’s one of the most thoughtful gifts one can give a parent or child in this day and age.

A life saver!
I bought this book years ago as a ten year old girl was on TV and mentioned this book had great meaning for her as it saved her from being abducted . she remembered the message. I was so impressed that I obtained a copy. The illustrations are wonderful and I love the fact that it is somewhat subliminal in getting the correct message to kids. It opens up dialogue for parents and kids! A fun but meaningful book for children . My son has this book in his kindergarten classroom as it was one of his favorite boooks growing up.

Slightly different than original version
I was very excited to find this book as it was my favorite book growing up. I gave it to my godson for his birthday. I love the original book I had, slightly disappointed this seems to have some additional pages that I don’t think go as well as the original copy I had as a child but it still works for what I had intended.

Never Talk To Strangers....that is what I was taught.
I have read this book to my preschoolers for many years. This is a good way of helping educated children about Stranger Danger. It teaches children and adults alike that Strangers are not always scary looking, and can seem kind when they want something. So it is best not talk to people you don't know unless an adult you trust is with you. I have discovered when reading this book to very young children they may find the pictures and words intertaining, and not get the message behind what Irma Joyce is trying to reveal. So my thought is, it would be better for older 4 and 5 year olds. That being said....I really like the message the story has to offer and think the title says it all, Never Talk To Strangers.

A clever story
Has helped to reinforce the message. I prefer the new thinking, Clever Never Goes, but Never Talk to Strangers, was originally written some years ago. And the message has worked well with the young person I support.

My favorite book as a child
My favorite book as a child. I have purchased several copies through Amazon and given as gifts. This particular hard cover is exactly like mine was, and I love sharing this book because of the imaginative drawings.
