A Handbook of New Testament Exegesis

I was blessed to have both authors as professors during my seminary education. It has been a couple years since and found this book to be a great refresher of much that I learned during my time at seminary.As usual with any book by Dr. Blomberg, the prose is clear and engaging. From start to finish topics such as Word Studies, Grammar, and Outlining are all grounded with wonderful Biblical examples. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in just learning how to study the Bible better or wanting to grow as a teacher/preacher. Blomberg and Foutz have done a wonderful job in creating a resource that will bless many in learning how to do the hard and rewarding work of exegesis. Also of tremendous value is the painstakingly detailed and precise footnotes and bibliographies that allow the reader to dig deeper if they so choose.The authors are great students of the Bible and have now written a book that will allow the rest of us to follow in their footsteps.

You will see this review copied on other books, the review is similar. These textbooks matched books required at our local college. Make sure you check your revision numbers, publisher, and date. It was a little worrisome the first time we did this without seeing the books but it was worth it. These were the best prices, we received all books on time and literally saved hundreds of dollars. This book is awesome. A bit drier than I'd prefer at times, but Blomberg presents the process of exegesis, and presents the case for why it is important in a clear, concise way. Very detailed without getting bogged down, the book is a well of information that I'm sure I will return to more than once.

Definitely reccomend book for those looking to truly have the basic tools for dissecting, understanding, and applying biblical passages to their lives and to relate the same to those whom look to you for guidance ...

This is a very well done book. It is a beyond me in some places but it offers alternative techniques for those of us who don't have skills in Greek. The examples are both illustrative of what is being taught and useful exegesis of the sample scriptures. Although this seems a contradiction, it both instills humility regarding current skills and encourages me to continue on

This is an excellent book for students doing exegetical studies in Greek. Easy to read and a great book to reference!
