My students are indifferent about educational posters. Overall, I like it.

An attractive *looking* poster, but upon closer inspection I realized I couldn't hang this in my classroom. The main bullets are great things for students to keep in mind, but the descriptions are close to useless. They are just dictionary definitions of the concepts, with no attention to the context of *writing,* and do not offer any insight students could actually use. In the case of "word choice," it goes a step further in potentially reinforcing a common misconception students have about "diction" (i.e., that they should "use diction" in their writing). There is also the irony of the Conventions bullet's description failing to capitalize the first letter of the sentence.Ultimately, this is a handsome design, but I would be embarrassed to have students see this non-example of communication in my classroom. I would love for the design to be revisited, and the current descriptions replaced with actual advice, or at least a statement that helps students understand both the what *and* the why of each concept.
