Traditional African Costumes Paper Dolls (Dover Paper Dolls) Paperback – June 17, 1999

As an avid paper doll collector, I give these paper dolls four stars. There are two dolls an African man and woman. The dolls are not part of the cover, so when you cut them out the booklet won't be destroyed. My only complaint is that there are no stands for the dolls. I will make my own stands, but it would be nice if they were included. There are 15 or 16 outfits for each doll, complete with hats, headdresses, masks, etc.. The clothes are very colorful and include lots of accessories. There are costumes from ten different countries in Africa. The costumes are beautiful. There are three paragraphs inside the front cover about Africa and the dolls and clothing. There is a map of Africa inside the back cover. , All in all a nice paper doll set for only a few bucks.

I enjoyed these so much I recommended them to a friend who has started a charter school. I found them informative and educational, as well as enjoyable on their own. I like the fact that there are clear and concise descriptions of the costumes. I also found the map of Africa that shows where the represented countries are located very useful. The could also be an interesting tool to introduce to a classroom during Black History Month.

Beautiful book! Gave it to my 11 yr old cousin for christmas.

This is a very nice book with awesome outfit from different ethnic tribes of Africa. I haven't tried it out yet because, I am sacking it for my granddaughter, who is only 3 moths old, right now....hehehe...I know it's early, but I like to buy nice things whenever I come across them.

This was a gift for the celebration of Kwanza. The children loved it and became educated on the traditional costumes of those in Native Africa. Beautifully designed and great standard, quality paper. Hours of entertainement for the little ones and adults as well. Interchangable costumes for the cut out dolls were wonderful. A nice present for any time.

There is a man and woman paper doll. They are a good size for play. There are a variety of African costumes included ie South African, warrior, traditional etc. However, the pages are double sided, so play is limited.

It needs punch out paper dolls if you plan for a little girl to enjoy it.

Perforated dolls would have been better

The costumes are nice. The book covers Kenya, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Nigeria, Niger, Ghana. All of the pieces must be cut out, which is quite a lot of work.
