Nice little rod if you're just getting started in ultra-light fishing. I've got arthritis in my hands and the trigger spin is way easier for me to work than an open face reel. Definitely buying a second one.

it is lightweight, acts like an open face, but casts like a spin...heavy enough to handle a good sized crappie, but light enough to not tire you out

Zebco makes rod and reel combos that work better and less expensive than this model. This is a poor example of some of the fun inexpensive combos that Zebco makes. I've had a lot of luck with the Slingshot series combos that Zebco makes. They work much better and are less expensive.
