This book does a lot of things well using psychology, illustration, and good writing.It removes the cluttered panic that plagues my busy business owners' mind. It helps to completely reverse the trend of "opportunity gambling" that business owners do all the time.The best thing it does is to REMOVE INNER DISTRACTIONS AND STRESS from the mind concerning your business. That may sound absurdly useless, but after reading this book it's clear that many of the biggest problems I have (and that many business owners and stakeholders have) stem from relentless noise and stress in my own mind that clutters decision making, generates bad decisions that cost time and money, and makes it hard to focus on what's important. -The noise and stress leaves with some simple understandings.I've found that just reading through this book once (even skipping a few of the action points), my understanding of my own brain has really increased.

Dave Crenshaw has done it again!! He continues to provide invaluable coaching to owner/entrepreneurs that is easy to implement and not overwhelming. Dave speaks to my problems head on and provides step by step instruction on "how to" tackle the beasts, literally. I read the book in two days time and have begun the process of implementing every action item that I can in an organized fashion. The exercises are not daunting and provide incredibly useful information when done and analyzed properly.I have read all of Dave's books and I anxiously await the next to continue to bring my businesses to the next level of my vision!!!! I purchased Dave Crenshaw's book, "The Focused Business" the moment it was released. I am amazed by how easy and entertaining it was to read, it is literally a "How-To" on business focus and development, and most importantly, how to keep me focused on what I do BEST. I have re-established goals I once had, I have recommitted to being the type of entrepreneur that can really make a difference. This is a superb book, thought provoking and action invoking. I recommend it 100% to anyone that wants to have more time with family, get more done during the day, and really begin to accomplish the dreams that began with the start of your business!

David points out the top reasons why businesses fail and in a fun way helps you combat our tendencies to get distracted by too many opportunities, bad employees, bad customers and an imbalanced life.The main takeaway is to focus on your Most Valuable products or services until you have perfected it and success is on sort of an autopilot only then should you branch out to new opportunities. He helps you define your most valuable product or service and take steps to spend all your time and effort on that.The book is a quick read but I recommend taking your time and really thinking through the questions and worksheets.

The book lays out clear examples, sock-in-the-gut questions and usable tools to focus the energy of an entrepreneur or a mature business.If you find success eluding you, there is a reason. This book will show you why and what do about it. It is invaluable. I can't recommend it enough.

After reading the book, I am going back through it chapter by chapter with my key team leaders to make sure they understand how to focus on the key, most-effective areas of business and remove all of the other distractions. Great job, Dave Crenshaw, on making it fun and focused!
