Bozeman Outdoor Hat - Light Brown

So far so good! I wasn't sure how I'd like it. A hat sort of makes a statement. Wasn't sure I could pull it off. Not saying I do, but after too many trips to the dermatologist, I figured I better get used to trying to cover up. I have a large head & wasn't confident that I did the measuring correctly. I went with a size large hat, thinking I might need to exchange for an XL (and then maybe add sizing pads to the sweat band). Well, I've worn the size Large several times now, and it almost disappears on my head. I forget that I have it on. Usually a hat will start to annoy me after a while. This hat is really comfortable and looks fantastic.

I saw many good reviews and some unhappy reviews so I was a bit nervous to shell out $120 for a hat as I’ve never purchased a quality felt hat before. The reasons why I’m thrilled with this hat are: 1. The seller packed the hat upside-down in their own box. The inside had a cutout for the crown to poke through the support layer. This was then padded with foam to prevent creases or markings. (Some people said the hat arrived in a bag??) 2. The felt didn’t have any defects as one person described: “pimples” and no moth damage as another had described. 3. The hat fits me like it was made for me!! I’ve tried mediums in other brands but this is the only one that fits true to the size chart. My head measures about 22.25” or so just above the ears. In baseball caps I wear size 7 1/8 I believe. 4. The felt is heavy (weight wise) and feels very premium and high quality. 5. The sweat band is this soft, vented athletic fabric and I like that it helps hold the hat in place. 6. The style is slightly western and slightly classic and I think it is absolutely flattering for all occasions. I will see how it holds up in the weather, but all of the reviews that mentioned that were satisfied with it’s performance. Also felt loves to pick up lint and pet hair, so keep that in mind, especially if you purchase it in black or another dark color.

Hate came well packed with a cardboard shell around it with good protection and shipping was very fast. It does run true to size or just a tiny bit snug (for me) but has some give with the material. It also has a softer feel with the wool with nice spring back if rolled. It wears a bit warm which is nice for cold fall and winter days but might be a bit much for warmer regions. The water resistance works good and should hold up through the wet season. I wasn’t sure if I would like the color in person but ended up being very pleased. I chose this hat because I didn’t want a full fledged cowboy hat and something more versatile for outdoor work and general activity. There are lots of options in an outdoor style hat but if this is a style you decide on you won’t be disappointed - very comfortable, versatility, and the quality is great! I also get a lot of compliments which is always nice.

There’s one slight dent in part of the hat but it’s not very noticeable, as a less expensive Stetson I’m alright with that kind of thing especially since it’s a more outdoor/crushable design meant to take some wear and not be super formal. I’ve yet to test the water resistance too much but I wear it while my hair is still drying sometimes and there’s been no issue. I did some crushing tests when I first got it and it completely is in shape, sometimes if the crown gets crushed in too much near the pinch area you’ll need to reach in and pop it back into shape real quick but with no difficulty- not sure how it holds up being crushed for extended periods of time or many times over. It fits pretty well, only will fall off if you tilt pretty far angles. If you need help figuring your size the Stetson website has a nice chart that I used. It feels very soft and comfortable overall, the material and form has only grown on me since getting it, which I’m very glad for since I was hesitant to buy a hat at this price. I’ll definitely buy a Stetson again.

It’s a very stylish hat. It’s made out of wool and good for the Fall weather. The hat quality is excellent. It’s very soft to the touch. It’s also water repellent which is a nice feature. It’s not floppy or too stiff. It hold its form well. I have a small head. I’m usually either a medium or small in hats. I tried a small in this hat and it was too small. Then I tried a medium and it fit perfectly. I think my head is like a 7 1/8 size. I’m satisfied with this hat.

I’ve been buying Stetsons for decades and the Bozeman Outdoor hat for years. After going through many other styles and models I finally found this hat, which was the one I was searching for all that time. I just bought my 4th one now. The quality has remained constant in all of them, except that the 3rd one was a little thin. Being too thin means it won’t stay on your head in wind as well as thicker ones do, and sometimes when working it wants to fall off. I always catch it, but on the 1st and 2nd versions they were thick enough to grip my head, hold their shape in the wind without flying off, and they would stay put even if I turned my head upside down for a moment, as to look under something or to reach down to pet the dogs and cats. I’m hoping that the 4th one reverts to the original quality, and will report back after getting it. …er… and the 5th. I forgot to say that I ordered two this time. They didn’t have my green one, so I got two other colors. I’ll report back. Overall, the quality level of all the Stetsons I’ve owned (around 20) has been excellent. I’d wear them forever, but they get awfully dirty the way I use them, and after while I’d rather just replace them than to keep on wearing a stained-up, dirty hat. The hats themselves have never worn out. Always retain their shape, their feel and fit.

Arrived earlier than expected, in a perfect sized box to keep it from being crushed. Beautifully made. Fits like a dream, stays on my head even in the wind. Definitely worth what I paid

I was looking for a hat to replace my two old Akubra ones as an every day wear, which had become too small for me. Was not prepared to pay the now eye watering price that Akubra are, some might argue, you pay for quality but every one has a budget and for quality and virtually half price of an Akubra, this Stetson fits the bill. It was only after looking on Amazon that I stumbled on this Bozeman, not available in the EU Stetson site and even better that it is made in Texas. I already have an Open Road Stetson and this one fits me better in that it comes down to my ears. My head is an awkward shape in that it is pointed but unlike my open Road which now has a little bump in the top, this Bozeman fits without having to do this. It did come slightly different to the picture in that the sides are slightly turned up, more like a cowboy hat but I will live with that for now and maybe later, I will steam the sides more to my shape. The only other thing is that the sweat band is material rather than leather, which being bald does not make it stay on so easily when the wing blows. I suppose it is made like this so you can fold it up for travel, this I do not intend to do and where as in the States, there are plenty of places to get you sweat band changed, not so here in the UK and I will have to keep looking. All in all, very pleased with this hat and thanks to Amazon for making it available from across the pond.
