I use this product as a outdoor home security system. By far this is one of the best cameras I have used to date. For the price it is more than worth it. MSRP on the manufacturer website is 800 dollars, so you are getting your bang for your buck here. I live in Colorado and these are the exact same cameras used in glenwood canyon. The zoom of 20x is incredible. The night vision IR floods my entire neighborhood with excellent detail even at full zoom. I have my cameras set on prerecorded patterns so as fsr as motion detection I cannot elaborate. This cameras has built in anti-fog and heaters along with fans to cool down the cameras. I would recommend this camera for anyone who actually wants to catch criminal activity that leads to an actual conviction by detailed video evidence instead of a terrible recording with no zoom that leads to an endless and openended investigation.

During the daytime, the picture on a 23 inch screen looks like a perfect picture. At night, like a perfect black and white picture. Focuses quickly when moving of zooming in. Yes, it is easy to read a license plate. BTW, I do not use the software provided with my DVR to control the unit, I use a controller made by the same company, GW Security. Makes moving the picture around easy. I purchased the unit from GW Security because of how they handled a problem with a camera in a CCTV system from them. Easy exchange of a bad camera and helped solve installation problems caused by inexperience on my part.

I ordered this high speed dome on the 3rd. It arrived the 4th. Unpacking I was taking back by its size. It is a unit like you would expect to see on a commercial building. My existing system cameras hide well up under the eve's of the house. This unit is going to not hide easily. I almost sent it back because of its size. But what the hay I hooked it up temporily in my inside shop. I was amazed with the video performance. Video images were sharp. My current DVR is a Night owl BBHDA10P-8 and operates on 12 volts DC. The speed dome operates @ 24 volts. This means this camera will go dead during a power failure because is powered independent of the DVR ( My DVR has a built in battery backup) to handle a power failure. This speed dome's factory settings makes it plug and play with my DVR. The PTZ worked out of the box. PTZ is smooth and fast. The infrared illuminater ( Night vision) can be seen by the human eye for a long distance. I will be disabling Night vision as I have a stand alone long range illuminator installed in my system. I cant wait to install this unit into my system today. In summary This is a heavy and large speed dome for residential use but the performance is good so far. 4 stars for performance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Works great out of the box, excellent picture too. I especially like the 24v power supply. Zoom can see a fly on a tree trunk about 150 feet away, that'll work for me.

I do not need night vision or motion detection, but the picture quality and PTZ is fine.
