Victor traps are the best !
Victor are the only ones i'll get ! We live way out in the country, and don't know why the mice have decided to come in the house in the Spring, but have been catching one per day in each trap! Nasty critters :-( These Victor traps are pretty durn humane. One snap and the mouse is a goner. Easy to dispose of the corpses without having to touch them. Which is important as Hanta Virus is only one of the things mice carry. Very durable, can reuse, not real easy to clean the little metal bait part -- but that's OK, they're worth it :-) Tried 1 sticky trap 1 time -- never again !! Sticky traps are horribly cruel :-( These Victor traps are tried and true, and very effective. Would recommend them to anyone. But -- do be careful of your fingers when setting them :-)

Work well but you need to use a few tricks
I baited 4 traps with peanut butter and the mouse wiped the PB from all 4 traps but the 4th trap got him. So I’m happy it got him but surprised at the lack of sensitivity of these traps. I mean he wiped them clean! But these are nice because they’re so cheap you can just toss them away once you catch a mouse. They’re definitely not big enough for a rat. These are pretty small and lightweight. Perfect for regular mice.UPDATE: I read online how to make these work better and I upped my rating to 4 stars based on it.1.) Use peanut butter on the bottom of the trigger (just a pea size); it makes them really paw at it more and whammo.2.) Mix peanut butter with cotton from a Q-tip and wind it around the teeth of the trigger. I guess the theory is it gets caught in their teeth and they are stuck. When they pull away they aren’t able and it gets them. I know it sounds cruel but these traps are very strong. It looks like a quick clean kill to me.3.) Use needlenose pliers to bend the trigger a little and make it a hair trigger. This really works but its a pain. I mean they snap at the slightest movement, so placing them after doing this can be hard. Sometimes you have to play with it and bend it back a little if it won’t stay set. This one is such a pain it’s almost not worth doing. But if you’re having trouble getting any, try this step.To date I’ve caught 8 mice in about 2 weeks time. I caught 7 within the first 6 days, then went a long stretch with none and just caught another. So just keep baiting traps and putting them out. The PB stays fine and will get any other mice back there. One other lesson learned: the PB attracts ants. So I have ant traps near the mouse traps now. And we saw black widows which I sprayed for as well in that little corner. Its a real war zone down there.

Simple, reliable, cheap and effective - all good
Sometimes old tech is the best. We had signs of rodent infestation. Loaded up one of these traps with almond butter, put it in place, checked a day or two later and there was a dead mouse. Humane way to kill them since they die instantly. What I don’t like is (1) have to handle with extreme caution when loaded, or it can snap accidentally, (2) gross to clean up. But I don’t see any way around these limitations without engineering a much more complex and expensive device. Keep it simple!

WORKS and see my hack!!!
This is my hack: I dislike mice and we have issues where we live. So I set these traps with peanut butter and carefully put it in a brown lunch paper bag and set it against the wall with the opening along the wall. When they go in and get into the trap, all you do it roll up the bag and put in the garbage. No need to touch the trap or see anything! For me it was a miracle to not see or touch those critters!!!!!I hope this will help you like it helped me.

unlike glue traps, this trap is humane and works
THE trap to buy, not the Tom trap unless you want to feed the mice and not catch them!

Decades old and still the most effective
OK--these old style traps are a bit touchy, so need care in setting, but are affordable and effective. After seeing a mouse run behind some furniture in my garage, I baited one with peanut butter and set along the wall where I had seen the mouse disappear. Before I was even back in the house I heard it snap. I thought I had not set it well enough and it had gone off--but it had already gotten the mouse. Being squeamish, I put on gloves and instead of releasing the little corpse, dropped trap and all into a bag and then into my garbage can. At this price, I can afford multiple traps. We went on to trap a few more in the garage, although clearing the rest of the infestation took a few days. I don't like to use poisons which can kill predators that consume dying or dead rodents or leave birds or other animals to die in hidden spots where they are hard to find and remove. These inexpensive traps kill instantly and do not leave animals injured and in pain--definitely our rodent solution of choice.
