Matfer brushes: lotta dough but seem to be worth it.
Pretty expensive for a little pastry brush but glad I sprang for it because these are far better than other brands I’d been using. No loose bristles, wash up easily, dry fairly quickly, and best of all, they spread liquids easily and finely over my doughs before baking. They seem pretty well made. I only handwash these of course, and I’m careful with them, so I’m hoping they’ll last a long time. So glad they offer these here now, there’s no way I could find them locally. And there’s no way I’m going to use a cheap paint brush, made from who-knows-what, on the pastries and breads I serve my family.

Top quality construction and materials.
These work well for basting and are heat resistant. I like how easy to clean and hygienic this brush is. I bought several for my family and will look into more products made by this company.

Great brush
First one smelled horrible, but Amazon sent me a replacement which was much better. The bristles stay in place and don't end up in your food, the texture of the bristles is perfect for brushing egg wash on delicate pastries, and they hold just the right amount. The plastic handle seems fairly durable and is nice enough to hold. All in all, this is one of the best pastry brushes I've used, and it will last a very long time I'm sure.

Good basic brush but don't use at 400F or higher
I seldomly need a pastry brush but i find this to be an overall good size for my needs, usually an egg wash or oil. It's not super easy to clean especially when used with oil; it's a dense brush so the oil is hard to wash out, if at all. I like that it's boar hair but i wish company would have listed highest acceptable temperature because i ruined my previous one at 400F.

Great brush
If this review helps, I would greatly appreciate it if you liked it. I strive to write reviews to help others as I base many of my purchases off of reviews.Great brush. I bought this for my wife as she loves to bake. Reviews for many other brushes weren't very good and complained of bristles falling out.So far, this brush seems very well built and the bristles seem to be very secure.I will update after a few months on how well it is holding up but I anticipate it to still be a great brush.

Good brush although more on the expensive side. BUT short-lived
Good brush. Just bought it for the brand. Looks and feels sturdy. With just a bunch of uses, I noticed a bristle on my pastry. So even this well-known brand SHEDS. I HATED the way Amazon packed it (It was not PACKED at all !! It was just lying loose among other heavier items that I ordered with). So, maybe, it is a packaging issue too. Do not know. Let me see how the bristles hold up and update later if anything bad happens (Touch Wood!)UPDATE (OCT-29-2014): The bristles "fused" together as soon as I dipped it in the saucepan containing hot melted butter meant for brushing on the pastries. And no amount of washing could bring them back to their original state (individual bristles are no more!!). So, I was sent a LEMON in the guise of a pastry brush. I had to return it. ANY OTHER good brand of pastry brush out there?????

Okay
Nothing special but does the job. Found similar product at BBB with cheaper price.

Great little brush -- no shedding.
There really isn't a great deal to say about a pastry brush except that I like this one a lot. After reading the reviews of how many different brushes started shedding right away, I was obviously concerned about this one while waiting for it to arrive. Once I started using it, I could see it will be just fine. It did splay out when I washed it but once I applied oil with it, it settled down and has worked great after many, many uses. Should it give me a problem within a reasonable amount of time, I'll update my review but for now (and I suspect over the long term), I'm happy with this pastry brush.

Dommage.

Just the job
I bought this because the silicone brush I used on Filo pastry was to harsh. The pastry just crinkled when using it. Not so with this brush. It has fine bristles that do not damage the surface of what you are coating. It uses less coating material which stops the pastry becoming saturated and gives a nice surface gloss. Well worth the money.
