It really grows!
I was looking for a food plot material for Whitetail Deer that could be planted in an area with minimal sun exposure and this looked like one of the few that might stand a chance. I disregarded the instructions on the package about PH testing and fertilizing. I only had a small area to plant (10ftx15ft). I highly recommend (what I did not do) is to spray your area with a vegetation killer or something like Round Up 2x-3x over 2-3 months before planting to clear out the area.I raked the area with a garden rake to remove any leaves and debris, and scratched up the top 2 inches or so of soil. I used about 1-2 cups of seed over this area in a small plastic Scott's spreader (a whole bag will do a 1/4 acre!). After I spread it, I flipped the rake over to the smooth side and gently went over the plot to help ensure good seed to soil contact. I then mixed up a batch of regular Miracle Gro and sprayed it over the plot.2 weeks later I have about 4 inches of Rye Grass popping up! Keep in mind - it needs SOME sunlight to grow anything. The package says something like 4-6 hours a day but my area wouldn't even come close to getting that. What came up was not very thick, but it is better than what I thought was going to come up - which was nothing! I'm going to upload 2 pictures - one of the plot in general, and one up close. These pics were taken 2 weeks after planting. I shot the area with another batch of miracle grow again and will check it in 2 more weeks.

Pretty basic
I used a spring drag to bust up the ground, seeded, dragged a pallet over it that's it. Ten days and I have plants popping up everywhere, can't wait to see it when it's mature. I made sure there was no spring frost coming and that the following day after planting we had some rain.So far so good!

Rather plant seeds
After reading the instructions I realized that it would be easier just to till my area and throw regular seeds down. The preperations is to weed kill your area two weeks prior. Then add lime, then fertilizer and then this product. I simply tilled my area added fertilizer with the Throw and Grow all at the same time. I was actually looking for something to throw over my previous year foodplot and forget it. The mixture is about 80% Rye Grass which we all know is about effective in attracting Deer as diluted Coyote Piss. I mixed it with some clover and oats. Now we will wait. If I get a bruiser on cam Ill post.

Great Results
The deer are there every day, twice a day. The only prep I did was to spray Roundup before the application. I mowed the high weeds down that came back and that was that. Planning on expanding the area.
