doesn't actually work in common real world enterprise situation
Using a high quality motherboard (Supermicro X11SRM-VF) this item doesn't work under any circumstances. That is it doesn't work when the jumper is in the correct/default location nor the alternative/incorrect location. It doesn't work when it has a molex to 6 pin converter nor with a native 6 pin converter. It doesn't work with the official motherboard short 25cm oculink cable nor third party 50cm oculink cables. It doesn't work with the older bios or the newest bios.Trying multiple of them (3 of them) rules out a dud. They just don't work. They don't work with different PCIe bifurcation settings. They don't work with different PCIe gen settings. Alternatively in the exact same setup on the exact same motherboard off the exact same power rail+cable works perfectly fine using a competing product (the startech m.2 to u.2 adapter) literally the first time you plug it in https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073W65QX6. Note that the startech product didn't require any setup whatsoever it just worked immediately. Note in this case the adapter interferes with operation of the motherboard in oculink port 1 or port 2, and in port 3 or port 4 the system reports pciehp power faults. So all and all something is very wrong with these adapters, when at least interacting with this motherboard.

Know what you’re doing and they work as supposed to.
Installed two of those on Supermicro boards and they work absolutely great. Only thing to consider is that you need the right settings in the bios (nvme firmware) and all is good. Installs and boots great.
