Great review for English Grammar.

I graduated from high school in 1993 in which I did not do the best in English in high school or the SAT exam. Several years ago I obtained a Ph.D. in chemical engineering and have now decided to brush up on my grammar skills. The best way to use this book is to have a main book that describes all of the concepts. My remedial English class in college used the grammar book titled" The Writer's Workplace." Now go to the schaum' s book and work the corresponding problems. Do five problems in a section then check the answers in the back of the book. If you answered any of the problems incorrectly, do your best to figure out why you answered them incorrectly. Continue this procedure for the entire book.I personally own over 100 schaum's titles. In my opinion, there is no such thing as too many schaum's outlines titles.

Overall it does a decent job but there are many parts where the writer completely neglects to explain anything and I have to look at an alternate source to figure out what the author intended. The problems are really annoying because it attempts to trick you instead of teach you.

The material in this book is very good and serves my purpose. I wanted a book to brush up on my skills. However, I thought the price was a bit too high for the size of the book. This is the second Schaum's material that I have purchased.

The book is a great introduction to the grammar of English language; brief but not eliminating any vital details it was found to be a great help for students of mid level and up; a great resource for adults engaged in serious writing. Strongly recommended
