This thread is ideal for basting and making tailor tacks - unique because it will not slip out of the fabric. This fine cotton basting thread is the top of the line for basting quilts, garments, and other projects. The thread breaks easily when it is ready to be pulled out of the fabric. Remove the basting thread from the fabric by snipping the basting thread every three or four inches and gently remove the pieces. Never pull out long pieces of basting thread. *** To use, gently remove the wrapper, open up the skein, cut through one end of the skein and conveniently pull a strand out as needed. Braid the skein to keep it organized. **** Here's what one of our customers had to say: Just a quick note to tell you how much I have thoroughly enjoyed the Japanese sewing needles and basting thread I bought from you and recently received. The needles glide through everything with no effort and sew wonderfully. They are money well spent! And the basting thread is a dream - just enough drag to hold things together and not slip, yet quite easy to tear and pull out. Just wanted you to know how much I am enjoying both!

Effective, Useful Basting Thread
I’ve found this to be very useful but you must store it correctly or you could end up with a birds nest of thread. It comes in one big looped piece. There are loops on both ends. Cut one of the loops and remove your working strands. You now have one long bundle of thread. Using a slip knot, tie the bundle in the middle for storage. Then, when you want to use more thread you can just pull on the two ends and it doesn’t tangle. You can then remove the thread you want and tie it again with a new slip knot.

Perfect for basting
I like the texture and the final stitch on the fabric while I am basting it.

I Hope this helps
I thought this would be difficult to use at first because when I got it I could not figure out how to pull out the thread. Simply follow the instructions. I hope this helps if you are having trouble detangling for use. Cut the threads on one end of the loop so you have shorter lengths of thread to deal with. To separate and pull out single strands, separate a single strand while holding all the threads taut on the opposite end, then gently pull out your selected thread. Love these for making tailor tacks and basting. Easy to remove from fabric.
