HomeKit upgrade for a double gate
Great product, added it to a double gate opener on my driveway, wanted remote capabilities and HomeKit connectivity. Setup and installation very straight forward. Had my gate opener manual so wiring to the control board was easy, also added the AC/DC converter to power the ismartgate LITE opener (not required, as a plug is provided just made a cleaner install). Native app works great, as the instructions state the gate sensor must be used for HomeKit to function. The wireless sensor works to tell HomeKit if gate is opened or closed. Reached out to customer service on an out of warranty issue and their customer service was PHENOMENAL. Unit was installed ~2 years ago in the south Louisiana weather and still works an expected. Highly Recommend !!!

EDIT: This is number one option for gates. Nothing better and simple plug n play solution.
EDIT: None of the other options out there really compare to the plug and play capability of the Ismartgate option for GATES. In addition - with a bit of tinkering and placing of wifi repeaters and the device - the connection has improved. I am sure software will be improved as well with time. All in all, it's a good device to get wifi functionality on your gate as well as open/close status so you have peace of mind from the convenience of your phone. Setup is easy (if you have some moderate wiring/electrical skills) same difficulty any other garage opener. Original review: The problem with this Ismartgate wifi garage opener is how slow it is. Do you want to open and close your gate behind yourself quickly - forget it. If you want to see the gate close you'll have to wait 3-4 minutes before your app even lets you close it - then wait until another 30 seconds for your gate to close. The software setup was easy. The hardware setup easy for a pro DIY'er. More details on the slow app: After the gate is opened or closed the system waits for the magnet sensor to relay if it's opened or closed - this delay takes maybe 30-60 seconds alone. once it relays that - it seems that it disconnects and reconnects to wifi - and for around 60-120 seconds it tries to reconnect and then establishes it's connection. then you can again open or close your gate. My non-wifi clicker does a far quicker job, and i don't see myself ever using this on a daily basis when the clicker is just so much quicker. I live on an alley and my garage is near a very public area.. and i can't imagine wanting to wait 5 minutes to open and close the garage each time. All i want is to drive up to my house and have IFTTT open it 7 seconds before i arrive and close it 10 seconds after i leave.. for ismartgate lite with the gate sensor $119+tax simply won't cut it. Get a different gate opener. (and yes i have firmware 1.5 latest as of may 30 2019)

It just works, and is Homekit compatible
I have a Viking G5 gate and I was having a hard time figuring out how to make it smart until I came across ismartgate. It's a bit expensive, but it works. You simply plug in two wires into the radio receiver ports on your opener/ gate circuit board and hook up to wifi. It is natively homekit compatible, so can be added to automations. Beware that it requires a wireless sensor, to know open/close status. Although it states in the manual that distance between sensor and magnet can't be more than 0.5 inches, I got it to work reliably at a slightly wider distance. It catches wifi from about 80 feet away through a metal box. The instructions are a little wonky, and website is clunky, but there are diagrams for hook up from all major gate vendors. The power plug is large, so I'm planning to figure out if there is a way to hook up straight to the controller board. (I think there is, but haven't researched it yet.)

You can install it yourself & it works with Homekit flawless.
First impressions of the installation of iSmartgate Lite and getting everything setup in HomeKit. My brand of gate door opener NICE was listed as supported by iSmartgate. The iSmartgate Lite works with 1 door, but there is a Pro-version that works with up to 3 doors. I have the lite version. The box consists of the unit it self, a tilt sensor that reports wether or not the gate is open or closed, batteries to the sensor and a wire to connect the unit to the garage door opener. The unit needs power and Wifi - note that it only connects to 2.4GHz Wifi-networks. Keep the sensor close to the magnet as it is needed to communicate its state to the unit. otherwise it will keep sensing Gate is still open. The installation was a breeze. You plug in the unit, download an app and the app guides you trough connecting to the unit an getting it up and running on your Wifi-network. I have an Amplifi HD Mesh-router and it connected to it with out any issues. Once connected to the Wifi, you'll be able to open the Home-app and add the unit to HomeKit by scanning the QR-code on the backside of the device. Once its in HomeKit, you'll have to wire the unit to the Gate motor or to a wired gate door opener button. I chose to connect it directly to the motor. Please check before install how you gonna power this device. My Gate motor had some space inside as the unit is NOT water proof. It was a 10 minute job to identify where on the motor to connect the wires, iSmartgate has guides to most motors. I then connected the wire to the unit, fired up the Home-app and it worked flawlessly. It reports correctly open and closed state. It starts within 1-2 seconds of hitting the button in the Home-app. I've now tested it multiple times, both on Wifi and on 4G and it has not let me down so far. Only reason for not giving 5 stars is the issue with the battery operated sensor. Homekit mentioned to have no connection to the unit, the ismart app did function but gave me a low batt warning. The vendor will come back to me with a solution. My battery lasted two weeks instead of 4 - 12 months. There is a wired sensor but it appears this is only for the PRO version. EDIT I contact ISMARTGate via email and they sent me a new one. Now it will get 5 star
