This box takes a 30A 120/240V, (4) wire connection (NEMA L14-30) and gives you (2) circuit breakered 20A 120V legs with 4 GFCI protected outlets on each leg. That’s a total of 40 amps or 4800 watts of available power.I’ve had it connected to generators and shore power with no problems whatsoever. We used it extensively in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey in Houston on a Honda EU7000is Inverter generator when utility power was out for weeks. It performed flawlessly and the GFCI protection was hugely important given the flooding situation we had where extension cords were wet and were actually sitting in water in certain cases.OPERATIONAL NOTE: Do Not Connect This Box With An Electrical Load Present. Turn off the circuit breakers FIRST, then connect this box to the power source, connect the loads, then turn on the breakers. Failure to do so, damage to the internal circuits due to arcing is likely and is NOT the fault of the box. As with all electrical appliances, be smarter than the average bear.The enclosure is well built and after two years, it’s held up well. Purchased in 2015 and I wish I had found it earlier.Update 03/05/2020: Purchased a lake house with a boat dock that has a second floor deck with no power outlets, I’m using the spider box upstairs with about 40’ of power cord connected to a 30A (NEMA L14-30R) receptacle at the circuit breaker box. Works perfectly. NOTE: This box is not rated as weather-proof for outdoor use, but as long as it’s not raining on it, no problem.Update 07/10/2020: Bought a second one of these because I was dragging the first one all over the place.I found an adapter that plugs in to a 30A, 120V TT30 RV outlet and provides an L14-30 receptacle on the other end to power both 120V legs of this box. This does limit total input power to 30A 120V instead of 40A, but opens up even more connection options. This is an outstanding spider box. I was concerned if it would work. I have a 4000 W single phase 120 v 30 amp generator. This unit is built for a 220 30 amp Feed. I looked for a pig tail that would work with it to solve the issue. I found one that worked perfectly. My concern was the adapter ties to legs together to work. I did not know if the GFI’S would function because of this. Well everything tested perfectly. I am very happy with the purchase. Yes the adapter was not cheap but being manufactured it was safer than making my own as everything is sealed rite. This setup was purchased because of the planned power outages from Southern California Edison. everything ran perfectly today on the test run .

Central cord location and control and has breakers and safe multiple cord hook-ups. With just one feed from the generator or temporary electric pole on a job site! WOW! Love it! Nice build, heavy duty and looks great too, safety yellow! Heavy thick metal, A SOLID BUILD!

I am delighted with the product. I have two locations where I need 20 amp service and this box allows me to provide that power on a temporary basis. However, temporary is going to be for a long long time. Plugged it in and everything worked.

Was looking to hire an electrician to build me a break out box for a new generator I just purchased. This was about the same cost but in a much nicer housing, and was delivered in time for an event I had the week I purchased it. Very happy with the purchase.

From the beginning it had not worked on one side. I thought I was doing something wrong. But after reading some of the comments, I have the same problem as some others. I am going to see if there going to work with me.
