Don't Forget the Bacon!

Rhyming Book With Missing Bacon
This is a rhyming story about a boy sent with a pocket book of money and a four-word shopping list. It is a very quick read, two sentences per page is about average. The pictures are lightly drawn with faded ink for coloring. No glossy, high-value production in the art, but it reminds me of books from my childhood, so it has a classic feel that might appeal to the parents reading to their children. It is probably intended for ages 5-9. The story has a silly twist where the boy mistakes his list--instead of getting chicken legs he thinks 'chair legs'. He rhymes to try and remember the list and gets more confused every time he sees something else that rhymes with his list. (He thinks of getting a cape instead of a cake at one point and the artwork pictures him wearing a super-hero cape.) It ends rather predictably, but is a cute story for all that. It is a good story for practicing before going shopping to see how hard it is to remember what you've gone to the store for...as any person who has ever gone shopping inevitably forgets the one thing they intended to buy can tell you.

For the Bacon and Book Lovers
I bought this for a Christmas gift to complete a bacon theme for a friend who is expecting a child. I didn't know what to expect, but once it came I flipped through and thought it was actually pretty cute. It basically is a child who is trying to remember so many things on the way to the store that he ends up forgetting the bacon he went to get. It's a silly book that a child would enjoy. Also good for the reading skill of recalling. After each page you can recall all the things the child needs to remember thought the story! If your family loves bacon, and lives to read I would say this is a great book to add to your library!!

Good Book
Very cute book. I do think the appropriate age group would be 5 years old and older. The kids I watch don’t completely understand it.

3 Year Old Approves
This book was not what I was expecting, at all. However, my 3 year old loves it, so I guess I’d have to say it is a winner. He loves repeating “don’t forget the bacon!” throughout the book.
