Becoming a Jew

I am a Jew. I am a Jew because I now know the history of my Sephardic (and Ashkenazi) ancestors and I know my nature. But to be formally accepted by the community, I have to go through the converstion process. This book is a fantastic guide to both converts to the Faith of Israel as well as to those who were brought up in a secular lifestyle and now seek to reconnect spiritually with a Jewish community. It is priceless.

This, in my opinion, is an excellent writing for non-Jews who have very little knowledge of Judaism. While it cannot go in-depth on every subject, it touches on the important themes of Judaism.

Great book, well written, very educational but easy to read and a genuine pleasure as well.

Still reading; was one of the first books recommended to me when I expressed a desire to convert. A lot of good information presented in here in a very calm and cheerful manner.

For anyone considering conversion, this book is revealing and a must-read. Highly recommended.

I've purchased other book about conversion but this book is by far the most inclusive. It includes just about everything you would need or like to know about the Jewish people, regulations regarding conversion, and what life is like following a conversion. There is also a handy section that explains the Holidays.It had indeed been helpful and I think it would be useful to anyone wanting to convert or just know more about the people or the process.

The Rabbinical Council of America recommends this book to those who want to convert to Judaism and for good reason. It is an excellent book that lays out very clearly was is expected of a convert. Although, the book is for those converting to Orthodox Judaism it is also, useful for those choosing either conservative or reform.

Ouvrage remarquable, érudition stupéfiante ... qui hélas confirme très rapidement que devenir juif bien que théoriquement envisageable s'avère une galère inouïe. Le lecteur enthousiaste au départ essuie au fil des pages un tir de barrage continu jusqu'à se résigner. Dans le milieu on appelle ça "tester la motivation". D'autres diront "Saboter les bonnes volontés et se priver de talents généreux" Rien de nouveau ! Méfiance, crispation, rigorisme ... Dommage. Heureusement d'autres communautés juives se montrent plus réceptives dans une perspective véritablement universelle.

I bought this to learn about Judaism and help me in my plan to convert. The book is an eye opener and will help me a lot in my spiritual journey with my family!!!
