The Pilgrim's Progress

Don't zip through the engaging introduction by Kristyn Getty. This is my favorite adaptation of this enduring classic, bar none. Beautifully scripted, voiced and animated, ethereal soundtrack, well paced storyline and absolutely family-friendly. I love a good Christian movie, and I'm glad there are so many quality choices now. This one zoomed to the top of my list. The first time I watched it, as soon as it ended I watched it again. I;m sure I;ve watched it at least 6 times in 3 months. It's my go-to when I want to immerse myself in a rousing, uplifting and affirming story. Last fall, my 16 year-old stepdaughter's phone remained dormant on her lap throughout the whole movie: unprecedented. When it was over and we offered her a copy for her own, she actually yelped (like, with joy) and grabbed it from my hand! When her 19-year old sis came to visit for Christmas so we could meet her boyfriend, they were both fully engaged by it, too. We gave a few as Christmas presents, and I'm sure they'll be the most enduring gifts we gave in 2019. As far as younger kids, I think you're fine as long as they can handle Chronicles of Narnia and its rather intense moments involving Aslan. There are intense scenes including an epic battle, but no graphic violence, no profanity, no nudity. It is a ripping good watch whatever your age. If your child can handle Narnia, they'll love this Pilgrim's Progress, too. Watch it with them, and enjoy the springboard it easily provides for discussion of many faith points. We spend so much on Disney. Invest a few dollars on this, too. We now own several copies, 1) as backups in case I wear one out, 2) in case it goes out of print [please, no!], and 3) to loan out to friends and family who are curious about Christian films. Among the 50 or more titles in our home ministry video library, this is my current favorite: right up there with Do You Believe, Woodlawn, War Room, The Nativity Story and of course, the Narnia franchise. If you want to give your kids something better to model after than pretty little liars, cheaters and the like, I encourage you to consider starting your own home library with THIS movie. Finally, to any who are seeking to learn about the Way of Christ, this is a thoughtful, beautiful and very entertaining presentation of what it truly means to follow the King.

A thought provoking, enjoyable read.

I have never read the actual book. But after seeing this movie I plan to. Explains the gospel in very simple terms and can be for adults and as well as kids.

I found this video very well done. The animation was quality. The narration good. The story-line was true to John Bunyan's book that he wrote while in prison. I found it captivating and encouraging to my soul, but it is not entertaining like you might think of as a Disney movie for the young. It is more serious. I liked it a lot.

A classic story in a new great format. Good for kids to help understand Christian virtues.

This film is so well done and very moving as a Christian who does know 'The King' personally.If the film has made you spiritually thirsty go ahead and read the book that this story refers to - The Bible - especially the Book of John.If you are someone who would like to enter a personal relationship with Jesus and know with certainty that one day you'll join Him in heaven for eternity then you can receive Jesus right now into your life.As the Bible tells us, all you need to do is acknowledge your sins and turn from them to Jesus, believe that He died in your place to take away your sins and that He rose from the dead. Then call out to Him right where you are and tell Jesus you want to receive His forgiveness. He will hear and respond to you!I turned to Jesus aged 37 and have not looked back. He is the light and joy of my life!!This film will take on a whole new level of meaning if you receive Jesus - I promise you 😊

This is a great adaptation of Bunyan's book. My roommate and I tried several film versions, all of which were terrible, before settling on this version. While it is clearly made for children, it doesn't talk down ro the audience, and adults can enjoy the story as well.The only problem I saw was they did depict Christ in his heavenly Glory, which made me feel a little uncomfortable because of the prohibition of making graven images. I would have preferred if they just choose to show the pilgrim during that conversation, but each individual is going to have to weigh their own conscience on that matter.Ultimately, I would say that it is a very good adaptation of the book, and would highly recommend showing it to your children, or watching it yourself!

Very good movie for the whole family to watch with the whole family. Our grandkids loved it. Lot's of lessons of what is really going on even in todays age.
