Great quality extension ladder - very stable
I purchased this ladder last week as I needed it to clear out my gutters and clean the upstairs windows. I've also found that it's very useful for putting up Christmas lights at the gable ends of my house! The ladder arrived quickly and is very big - so you need a garage or very large shed to store it. One of the bottom rungs on my ladder was also dented but this doesn't affect it's stability and so was not a major problem. Before you can use the ladder, you need to attach the stabiliser bar to the bottom rung of the main ladder. Please note that once fitted, the stabiliser bar is a permanent fixture of this ladder and cannot easily be removed and re-attached. The instruction sticker on the ladder states that is should never be used without the stabiliser bar as there are no rubber grippers to support the ladder - just some temporary while plastic plugs that you remove before fitting the stabiliser bar. In order to fit the stabiliser bar to the ladder, you first have to thread two eye bolts through the top of the stabiliser bar and then secure these loosely with washers and Nylock nuts (more info below). Once that is done, you remove the two temporary while plastic plugs at the bottom of the main ladder to reveal two slots where the stabiliser bar fits into. I had three issues at this point: 1) You need to ensure that the eye bolts are fitted vertically, not horizontally in-line with the stabiliser bar and that the Nylock nuts that secure the eye bolts are only just tightened. The reason for this is that if you fully tighten the nuts before you insert the stabiliser bar into the slots, you'll find that the eye of each eye bolt doesn't line up with the square Coach bolt holes that are used to secure the stabiliser bar in place. 2) The Coach bolts that fit through the ladder and through the eye of each eye bolt to secure the stabiliser bar were missing from the little plastic bag that was supplied with my ladder. I had the Nylock nuts and washers, but no bolts! Fortunately for me, I had some Coach bolts in one of my toolboxes and so I was able to quickly find two bolts that fitted perfectly, although they were a bit longer than required. Once these were fitted, it was just a case of tightening up the Nylock nuts to secure the Coach bolts and eye bolts. The ladder is made of aluminum so don't over-tighten the nuts as this will dent and / or distort the metal. 3) On my ladder, the stabiliser bar did not easily slide into the slots and so I needed to hammer it into place. Once I'd managed to find some Coach bolts that fitted, attaching the Stabiliser bar only took a few minutes and then the ladder was ready for use. Something else worth mentioning is the weight of this ladder. Although it is made of aluminium, it's still pretty heavy with all 3 extensions in place - I would advise those of you who may not be very strong to remove the 3rd extension as this drops the weight down and makes the ladder easier to carry. The 3rd extension simply drops out of the main ladder by unlocking it, lifting the bottom rungs up to clear the locking claw and then dropping the extension down out of the red metal guides at the top of the main ladder. The ability to remove the 3rd extension from this ladder was one of the main selling points for me as I need a smaller ladder to access my flat roof. Despite the few niggles I experienced, this is a very good quality and sturdy ladder that I'm sure will last me many years - so I'm happy to award a 5 star rating. It's also worth noting that BPS Access Solutions offers a lifetime guarantee on their ladders, so that's something else to consider if you are having trouble choosing your new ladder.

Great sturdy and versatile tall ladder
This is a review for the 6.26m tall 3 section ladder. It arrived promptly and wasn't battered (as some other reviewers' ladders were). It has a stabiliser bar which you need to attach to the bottom of the ladder before use, and which really helps make it much more stable when youre at height. The instructions that come with it are rubbish, though. They are generic instructions for multiple different types of ladder, none of which have the name 'Trademaster 3 section ladder', so they're of little use. However it's pretty easy to figure out how to extend the ladder and lock it with the simple locking mechanisms on each section. There's also a useful video on the BPS website. It's relatively light for a big ladder, but like all tall ladders, it does get unwieldy when you're trying to extend the 3rd section and have a lot of ladder above you! There are safety stoppers to prevent you over extending each section, which helps too. The ladder can also be used as a step ladder and has both restraining straps and a locking bar to hold the two bottom sections of the ladder firmly in place. It looks like you can also extend the step ladder using the 3rd section, but I didn't try that. I don't think you can have one section higher than the other in step configuration either (for use part way up stairs, for example) but not sure I'd want to do that with a ladder this tall anyway. Overall a very well priced ladder that seems to be well built.

Quality ladder
Good quality heavy ladder, I used this fully extended to paint the front of an office building and I felt very safe without hardly any wobble coming from it, easy to lift and lower but always have someone footing the ladder

Great for the money.
Firstly, mine did arrive with a very minor ding in one of the top rungs, but nothing that was beyond cosmetic damage. Having used these ladders I can say that they are very good, they are lightweight and pretty easy to manoeuvre. They extend easily (nice and smooth with little force), although the safety latches can make it a little awkward until you figure them out. In use they are very stable and inspire confidence. The top extension tion can be completely removed and used as a standalone set of ladders and in the ladders can also be used as set ladders and have a built in adjustable support bar for this purpose. Overall very good ladders and for the price.

Very good ladder
Had to replace previous 2 tier ladders, so I bought these. Ideal on the roof rack, sturdy and not overly heavy,. I can now reach a few feet further. I'm a big guy and have been well up on these without concern. No flexing. The straps can be a pest, catching on the feet when erecting but I just make sure they're clear before starting. The stabilizing feet were also a problem, they were way too wide which meant I couldn't get the ladder close to a side wall or steps. It also meant that garden ornaments and plants within close proximity got in the way. This became such a problem that I had to cut a length off each side (which will nullify the warranty) but it means no more hassle when setting up. I just tapped the plastic feet back onto the cut ends. A hacksaw will do it in minutes.. All in all (following my minor alterations) I am delighted with it.

Great value, versatile ladder
I ordered this when we moved into our new house as there was a lot of work to do inside and out - it's a sturdy, really useful ladder and can be used in various ways; I am no ladder expert so I didn't realise you could use this as a step ladder (using 2 of the sections), short ladder (using 1 section only) or as a 'proper' extending ladder (as shown on the photo). The instructions provided of how to do this are clear and easy to follow. The stabiliser makes the ladder feel much more stable in use, although means it can't be used in narrower spaces i.e. we have a very high ceiling in our hall above the staircase and I can't change the light bulb using this as the stabiliser makes it too wide to use on the stairway. Again, as others have mentioned the rungs are square not D shaped (if that makes a difference to you) and the anti slip bits on the stabiliser and at the very top (shown black on the photo) are red on the one we received - be aware when moving the ladder these can leave red scuffs on internal walls so take care not to brush the ladder against them when manoeuvring. Overall a great purchase which should serve us well for many years.

Wer mal hoch hinaus muss
