Not so hot for driving.
I bought these for driving with the hopes that the bifocal part of the lens would help me to see my GPS on my phone. I use readers (cheaters) for this now and they work great. I was hoping that these would work as well. The problem I have is that when I wear my cheaters, I have them down at the end of my nose and look over them for distance. Because these are sunglasses and I wear them like normal classes, I find myself having to lift my head to look through the bifocal part. This is not a big deal. What I don't like is that the regular part of the lens also has some optical quality. Without glasses I can read what's on my GPS, it's a little fuzzy, but I can read it. But when I put on these glasses, and look through the regular part, I can't read anything. If I use my old regular sunglasses, it's the same as no glasses, a little fuzzy but I can read it. But when I put these on I can't. They seem to make everything that is close look smaller or farther away. But for distance they work fine.As for sun glasses they work great and if that's all they were I would have given them five stars easily. But as for bifocal sunglasses they would be fine for sitting in the sun and reading a book, not for driving having to read things like gauges for your GPS.

I recently had cadaracs removed and lens implants. So hence the need for readers. Search and read reviews till I could read no more. Ordered a pair (Newport-Regatta) that cost $50.00. Because they were so tight on my head, they were back in the package and at the UPS store within 2 hours of the delivery. Very disappointed. Found these and decided to take a chance again. I was suspect that because they were less money, I was compromising some quality. What a pleasant surprise. These are awesome in so many ways. I love the clear and crisp view from the brown lens. Bifocals are in a perfect place. I am able to read my phone including my GPS. Very comfortable fit on my large head. The frame is metal including the spring hinges and have a quality feel. 5.75" width from stem to stem. Come with a hard case. Plan on buying another pair as a back up / travel pair.

A shot in the dark order, when I go crazy trying them on in person
I was all but certain I would not like, or they would not fit, or the magnification was in no way what I needed. With every reason to be unhappy, a MIRACLE HAPPENED!The size was perfect. I love the style, and magnification area was dead-on! The glasses are just right in weight, as the hinges, very well made, gripped my head securely. I purposely leaned over the desk in my dressingroom and shook my head. The glasses held firmly with no pressure, a feat my $1000 script glasses, nor the $120 sun glasses I purchased the month passed. I was emailed a couple of week wait on these, so I went back to check the magnification I had ordered. Oh no, I thought 2.5 was too strong, but again they were perfect, and the area of magnification was perfect! The glasses arrived a week early.I absolutely love these glasses, especially because in a store I would stand and try on glasses until I noticed 1 to 2 hours had gone by, my strength was sapped and the rest of my shopping would end with my feet dragging.Very well made, I would call them unisex. My gold and tortoise shell frames, with brown lenses never inhibited my reading or view which people with script bi-focals will attest to the annoyance. I could definitely see these on a wavy blond young lady, although I am almost 62 with high checkbones and strong jawline.A real surprise hit from a life-long shopper with an enormous wardrobe, that takes me to Europe once or twice a year, and a Manhattan pied-a- tier. I have a wardrobe that even my house-keeper is lost in. Will purchase more - 5 stars, especially for the price!

Excellent bifocal readers
I have a pair of prescription bifocal sunglasses. I did not notice for a long time that my distance vision was better without the glasses than with them. Due to cataract surgery, I no longer need glasses for distance and the prescription sunglasses unfortunately have some level of prescription in them for distance. In any event, given how long I have had the sunglasses, I do not feel it would be possible to return them. So, given that I only need glasses for reading, I decided to try these glasses as an alternative to new prescription bifocal sunglasses. They are great. they arrived before the scheduled date and work very well. There is an in-between distance which is not perfect (my prescription lenses were graduated so they work at the mid-level better than these), but that is not a significant problem for me. So I consider these glasses a great alternative to my $450 prescription lenses in many situations.

Bifocal part too low
These are great, high quality sunglasses. I really like the coverage, the amber color (which makes driving in rain/fog easier), and the polarization. The wrap around coverage is especially important to me.The problem with them -- and I'm still debating about returning them -- is that the top of the bifocal portion is considerably lower than all of the other bifocal glasses I've had -- it's at least 3mm lower, which is a lot when it's right in front of your eyeball. This makes driving a pain because you have to look "up" quite a bit to see the dash/GPS clearly, and then it's a fairly narrow slot of clear visibility.

The glasses appear to be well made. The spring hinges are quite effective and sturdy. The magnifying glass takes some getting use to, I have problems locating the transition line. But it is quite effective. I would prefer a slightly smaller lens with a lighter tint. The gray tint is a little dark for reading inside. The measurements for these glasses are listed in inches, which is fine with me. Other glasses are listed in millimeters, with which I am not as familiar. I am hopeful the plastic lenses will be scratch resistant. I have another pair of glasses with plastic lenses that has permanent scratches on it. It's too early for me to rate the lens durability. Still, glasses with plastic lenses are much lighter in weight than those with glass lenses.A plastic case was included with the glasses. I find it to be quite bulky and do not intend to use it. I prefer to wear shirts with pockets for storing glasses when they are not in use. .
