Great complete set
Such an awesome set. The colors are great, the variety is what caught my eye. The case is perfect just don’t toss around or flip upside down. Fun to use for any watercolor art and dries fairly quickly. Nice and thick guoche. Only annoying part is peeling the seal off each color…

Great performing gouache paints!
While I am still new to gouache paint, the HIMI paints are the third brand I've tried. Compared to the other (admittedly cheaper) paints these are a dream to work with. Very smooth and easy to brush, and excellent opacity with a nice matte finish. They are very affordable and come in a large range of colors, although they are also easy to mix, so not sure why you would need the entire color range. I also like the nice packaging, and how well the paints stay moist, but are also easily re-wetted if needed. I only withheld a star because AFTER purchasing a set of 18 colors for $20, Amazon immediately reduced the price to $17. Very irritating to see a great deal offered AFTER I have already purchased. More against Amazon than HIMI.

Excellent Set for Beginners or Hobbyist
I am a huge advocate for buying the best quality art supplies you can possibly afford, but expensive, unfamiliar mediums tend to be a bit intimidating to use. I wanted to start using gouache, however I wanted to use relatively cheap paint set that wasn't so cheap that it would limit some of the key components of gouache. A little bit of Youtube introduced me to this set by himiart. I was skeptical at first, and I admit that it took over a month for me to actually convince myself to purchase it (not because of the cost, but rather the fear that such a cheap set would have very poor performing paint and turn me off of gouache forever), but I am far from disappointed. These paints are amazing. Let me quickly reiterate that I have zero experience with gouache so I have no baseline set to compare to Miya Gouache. But as purveyor of art supplies in a wide range of prices, I know garbage when I see it, and garbage this is not. The paints are nice and creamy, which apparently is a thing you want with gouache? They are also highly pigmented and mix rather well. When diluted with water they maintain their smooth quality while remaining very pigmented. One of the nice benefits for those of you who like to use gouache wet is that the container is made to keep air out. If you look at arleenbean's video on Miya Gouache, you'll see that after months of storage, she still had wet paint, which was one of the major pluses for her. Not only this, but 30mL per color is a steal at this price when compared to similarly performing brands (such as Arteza). There are only 2 criticisms I can really make, both being so minor that they don't warrant a lost star. First, this isn't really an 18 color set, it's a 16 color set with 2 whites. White is super important in gouache, and the white that you use is even more important. One white, usually called Chinese white (or zinc white), is usually transparent and allows for more subtle changes in shade. The other, called titanium white, is very opaque and quickly lightens whatever color you’re mixing it with. Usually both whites are included in watercolor sets and because titanium white is more opaque, it is quite useful for highlights and whatnot. But with already opaque gouache, I don't really see a need for both whites. I would rather they only included One and added another color to the set. If you've ever seen the Miya Himi 56 gouache set, you would know that there are quite a number of beautiful gouache colors that we could include here.Second, and this isn't a criticism on the set itself and rather on the company-- the larger sets and refills should really be made available via amazon. It turns out that himiart has a pretty large selection of gouache sets, refills, brushes, paper, etc that are available on other sites (I won't say the name here, but let's just say that he had to deal with 40 Thieves to get the treasure he's selling) but the shipping price is absolutely horrifying. I've never used that particular site so it may be a misunderstanding on my part, but I'm not risking it.These gouache are absolutely worth every cent. I went on amazon the other day to purchase a second set to keep for later when I noticed that they now have a 24color sets with 80ml per well! Bought one as soon as possible and now I have an extra set of gouache when this one finishes! Definitely give these paints a try, you will not be disappointed!

Exceeded my Expectations! (Which is not easy)
This is actually heavier weight than I anticipated which means more paint to paint with volume wise! It really is so cute with the 3 brushes which was a surprise to me- I knew the paint tray was included. Highly recommend!

Love it!
This is my first gouache set. The bottom had some defects but everything else is fine. The gouache itself paints nicely and I love that brushes and a palette are included.

absolutely love these paints c:
i first saw these paints in a youtube recommended video and i loved how cute it looked! at the time, around the time i first saw that video, there were only mint green and pink boxes on amazon - but i saw other images of these paints having the color yellow, which i really wanted since it's my favorite color. later one i checked amazon again and found these paint in the yellow box! and so i got it and let me tell you - it's a loT bigger than you'd expect. i was pretty surprised at how big it really was when i took it out of the packaging.i thought opening the little jelly-cup-containers might've been a messy process but it didn't turn out to be quite as messy as i thought it'd be. i made swatches of all the paints later and labeled them (i spelt the "burnt" wrong in burnt umber but shhhh)i wanted to bring this paints outside with me to places, however it is a bit heavy, but i didn't really mind. i also thought that maybe letting the paints dry a bit might be more helpful so that it wouldnt move around in the containers and get onto the lid, so i actually tried to purposely let it dry for like two days and the result? it cracked a bit on the surface but they're still wet??? well i changed my mind on having the paints dried later so it didn't really matter to me - if you guys are worried about the paints drying well uh, unless you leave it open with the lid lightly placed onto the box for like 3+ days, i don't think it'd be a really big problem that the paints will dry out. it seems really difficult for the paints to dry out completely - the surface might get a lil dry and cracked but that's seriously about it.also i added the picture of the palette after i used it the first few times because i noticed that it stained a bit - i dont really care about that but it might be helpful to others to know that the palette will get stained lmaoidk but overall, as a beginner who never really used gouache before, i thoroughly enjoyed these paints and recommend it to anyone who wants to get a new, cute paint set for fun C:
