Although I was only partially hesitant because of some poor reviews, I would've like to believe that technology had advanced over the past decade enough to bring the prices of these sort of things to be lower as the last time I went looking for a digital to analog converter of HDMI to VGA it was somewhere around $50. But for a 5th of the price, I got exactly what I needed and was able to start using an old Dell monitor from the 90s with my new PC. It works both with and without the added USB power plugged in which is great! The monitor only supports up to 720p so as far as I can tell, it works perfectly! Will be ordering another for the other 90s Dell monitor I have laying around, great product and would definitely recommend!

Picture quality was the same but it tends to have dark shaded areas while watching a program.

I wasnt shopping to some ultimate, super-highend video demuxing/transcoding equipment. I just wanted a way to make the audio from my chromecast play through my external speakers without having to leave my Video source tied up by a boring art gallery screen. This works PERFECTLY!

We have an older tv with only 1 working hdmi port. After ordering many items that didn't work or didn't convert to hdmi, we stumbled upon this. It was easy to hook up and now we have hd with our firestick again. Other items we tried were up to 3x the cost of this item. If you want to watch hd and need female to male to hook up this is exactly what you need. It does not come with the usb port to plug into outlet so you will need one of those.

This product was not completely defective. It works to connect a computer's HDMI to a vga monitor. I wanted to connect my roku stick to the monitor instead. It will not work. I have tried 5 monitors now and it will not work. If I plug the Roku Stick in directly to the monitor it will work. Their support answered within 1 day, so I am giving them 2 stars instead of 1. The message, in barely decipherable English, gave me basic instructions and said to try again. This is after I told them I tried 3 different monitors. My guess is that there is some sort of hand-shaking between the monitor and the Roku Stick that does not happen. Their support did offer a free replacement, but I am done. If the replacement does not work, then I fear I will have missed the window for returning the item to Amazon. To be clear--screen quality and picture quality should be zero stars since it did not work at all for my Roku Stick. I am giving two stars for a courteous and quick reply from their support.

Will only work when projector is connected to my Mac. Not with any media devices like Fire TV or chrome cast.

This adapter works exactly like it is supposed to. Our tv’s vga input got damaged and needed an vga in and an hdmi out and bam. This adapter was and is a life saver. No need to rerun new cables and wires. Can’t even tell from picture on tv there’s an adapter like some of the other adapters on the market.

I needed to use an adapter to connect my phone to my projector and this was the way to make it happen since my projector is super old and only has VGA. I am happy to report that it works as expected.
