I'm not usually a fan of collapsible, foldable, telescoping products because I typically find them flimsy when compared to their normal counterparts. However, with our family-friendly bowrider, I don't really have much of a realistic option of keeping full-size fishing poles on the boat. I decided to give this telescoping rod a try just for it's portability and compact size. Took it out on the boat today and it was perfect. My 7 year old son and I each caught two Porgies in about 20 minutes of fishing. I ordered a second one so we can fish at the same time next time instead of taking turns.Compared to normal fishing poles, this is probably a 2 star or a 3 star set. But the ridiculously small amount of space this takes up makes it a 4 star item and a must-have for people who are into casual fishing on a non-fishing boat or off a dock/pier.

Nice little compact rig at a very good price. The retrieve is a little slow for spinner baits but it casts like a champ. The eyelets are poorly attached to the fiberglass sections so count on having to reattach those but it's easy and after that, no troubles at all.

This rod will serve you well as long as you don't try to reel in a huge catch. The line this comes with, nor the rod itself, is meant to bring in a big fish. I watched my friend's rod snap when he brought this bass fishing. Mine's still going strong.
