Mixed review on this item. For appearance and sturdiness I gave it four stars. For design it gets only one star as it is very difficult to adjust the position/angle of the adjacent sections. That is an issue for us as we will only use it when young children are visiting. It requires two hands and a bit of controlled strength. The instructions were rubbish and only got one star as well.

We have a large wood-burning stove on a hearth and this fits perfectly. My German-speaking father installed it for us and said he was amused by the directions, that were translated from German to English poorly. But he said if you can get passed the poor instructions it is a good product. My toddler has been pulling on the bars and gate for months now and they have stayed firmly in place on the walls. I keep wondering when it will break as he is definitely trying to break the cage, but it has not. Even when we have the fire pumping full bore, this does not get too hot. Everyone that visists asks us where we go it as they want one like it. This is a MUST if you have a mobile baby or toddler.

I love this gate!! First of all, the seller is wonderful! My shipment got delayed and they responded to my emails quickly and kindly, they also began emailing me with unsolicited updates just to keep me informed and I ended up getting one on time despite the shipping errors. And also offered further assistance once it arrived with the instructions... but I didn't need it because they were clear enough, and simple enough. Now I have the gate installed and it working marvelously! It does is job perfectly and looks nice too! I highly recommend this gate... and the seller!!

This gate is very flimsy, and a piece broke upon assembly (product was being assembled properly, it is just cheap material). Not sure it will be adequate for protecting my small children from our wood stove, I may need to build my own safety gate.

Let me say this might not be for small children- at all. I can pinch fingers and falls over easy. We use it bottom of our stairs to keep both dogs down or one up and other down.One is a small puppy ;) 9 weeks and other is a large 65 pound dog. It only works because he is trained not to push them and somehow scared of gates. He is a rescue so not sure where that came from. Included pic so you can see what shows is as advertised. I would rather use this as stair divider or doorway divider than other ugly gates any day of the week.Price was great. Shipping fast. No put together. Open box and use. Thumbs up for me.

This gate looks really nice and works for it's purpose. That being said the instructions may as well be thrown in the trash, reading them actually makes it more complicated to put together than it is just figuring it out on your own.The gate latch is kind of cheap and I do see it breaking easily. You have to make sure you align the latch properly to close it since it swings open in both directions it is easy to miss the "sweet spot".It is good to note as well this gate is not meant to be used in a straight line as it will not have the integrity to hold against children or pets pushing against it. It relies on the added strength from the folds between the panels. If you are looking for a straight gate this is not for you.

The gate itself is great, it seems sturdy enough to withstand a curious toddler. As everyone else has stated, the instructions are basically useless, so it took some time to install as the sections and pieces went together kind of like a puzzle. Or at least that's how it was for me. Overall, I think this is a great alternative to pool noodles, foam flooring, and other makeshift baby proofing solutions for fireplaces. For now....

I'm really happy with it, first of all the price ... great quality and I know that because my son trips on it and falls a lot so...far its good. I have a small dog and she is train to do not push the barrier so I don't have any problem with that but if you want something that stand strong there, this is not for you.
