If you peel it correctly, as instructions clearly describe, the backing will come off easily without pulling on the sticky back of the heater. Using this for my 55 gallon hermit crabitat. It has not fallen off of the back of the aquarium, as some mentioned. Either the problem was fixed, or the other reviewers couldn't follow the directions. I recommend this heater.

This is my first time trying this brand, previously having used Zoo Med, which seem to burn out about every 6-12 months, and Hydrofarm, which don't get very hot. This brand seems to be working fine, and it gets about as hot as the Zoo Med equivalent. However, the glue on the bottom peeled off along with the paper backing.

This heat mat works great like others said the glue melts over time so I reccomend sticking it to the bottom with nonflammable tape. This heat mat got very hot(I measure 120 at the hottest) so I definitely would recommend a thermostat.

Doesn't get real warm. Not enough heat for a 10 gallon Hermit Crab tank in winter where the ambient temperature is 70. This heater struggled to get the heat to the 78 degrees recommended for crabs.

EDIT: got this in 2015, its 2019 now and I still have it and it works perfectly still, have used it on 24/7 since I got it (on a light dimmer to control the heat output). I can't believe it still works.The glue melts so you might have to use duct tape to hold it onto the tank bottom. It doesn't seem to get as warm as others I've used but it works well for a secondary heatsource.

Gets nice and hot so get a thermostat. Adhesive isn't the greatest but not bad.

Cheaper than other models, I’ve been using it for a few days and is still putting out good heat for my terrarium.
